Amazing Race Ep. 8: Recap

I wasn’t too thrilled going into last Sunday’s episode of the Amazing Race with Team Jumba now out of the picture, but hey, what can you do? Six teams are now left in a race around the world. Here is a full recap of last week’s episode.

Departure time for the teams is stressed to be a big deal, whatever place you finished in the last leg you will leave in that place as well, but it seems with that you can never get too big of a lead, there always seems to be something to catch everyone up again. But still, you don’t want to be late. Chad and Stephanie seemed to sleep a little too long and missed their departure time by over two hours! But to everyone’s surprise, they’re flight was only ten minutes behind the 2nd flight, making everyone catch up in Muscat, Oman just in time to see Chad purpose to Stephanie!

After all that it was time for the teams to make their way to Jebel Shams, and up a rough and rocky mountain top where then one teammate will repel 500 feet down to a ledge where they will search through hundreds of lamps to find one with a ring in it, and deliver it to a guy to get their next clue. Despite starting last, leaving two hours late, and being the only two on the third flight, Chad and Stephanie actually held the lead the entire race, with Jill and Thomas right on their tail.

Now onto the first detour, Water Table or Wedding Table. Which actually no one did wedding table, due to it sounding more time consuming with having to cook a big meal. In Water Table teams had to pump water from an ancient well, and then travel down the streets of Nizwa to deliver water to a home.

Once completing that teams had to make their way to the Muttrah Souq where they would have to deliver a bowl of frankincense to Allibaba and receive their clue to make their way to the 8th pit stop. Thomas and Jill were able to pass Chad and Stephanie, but not without receiving a thirty minute penalty first. Another case of paying the taxi to lead you to the destination, which made Chad and Stephanie the winners of this leg.

Being lost and driving around for over nine hours, Gary and Mallory were unable to catch up to the other teams in time and were eliminated from the race. Only five teams left, I wonder what will happen next.
