This year was a tough battle for many artists specially because Asian music reached its peak this 2010. We saw more and more new boy bands and girl bands who stormed in the music scene but let’s see who made it to the Best New Asian Artist Of The Year list.

1. INFINITE

First one is Infinite. They caught our attention with their hard dance steps that we try to follow now and then. Even in live performances, they didn’t fail to be very synchronized. With their oh-so wonderful vocals with matching breathtaking steps, who doesn’t get amazed?

2. SISTAR

Yes, Sistar made it to the list. At first you might think that’s it is another girl group who basically can’t sing and you spent most of your time just ranting about it. They’ve impressed me after releasing their second single, “Shady Girl” and watching their MR removed videos made me more amazed. They’re one of the newbie groups who gives the best live performances, hands down!

3. miss A

Next one is miss A. I think this isn’t surprising at all. Most of you have been a witness on how this group stormed in the Kpop World. They left everyone in awe when they debuted with their first song, “Bad Girl Good Girl.” With their catchy songs, who can’t resist but to dance with them?

4. G.NA

The fourth is Gina Choi or better known as G.NA. So, she was supposed to be in a girl group but because of financial troubles of the company the group disbanded but because of the experience she got there she somehow becomes “big” now. She sings with a very distinguishable yet powerful voice. She can be the next BOA for me.

5.ICONIQ

The last but not the least, ICONIQ/Ayumi Ito is a Korean but debuted as a Japanese singer with a unique look (shaved head). Although you can hardly distinguish her Korean accent from her Japanese accent (she grew up in Japan), still the sweet voice makes her song beautiful and her album, “Change Myself” was a hit as it was at #3 on Oricon’s album chart.

And the Best New Artist of the Year award goes to…

miss A!

Do I still need to explain why? Well, miss A totally deserves this spot. They stormed in the Kpop scene with a different concept, not the typical cutesy type. When they first debuted on stage, I told myself that this group is going to survive and be huge in the Kpop World even though I admit their debut performance wasn’t perfect. They have this potential that I can’t find in the other rookies. They have stage presence and most importantly they CAN both dance and sing well. No wonder their first single, ‘Bad Girl Good Girl” was pretty catchy and was such a hit. They were number one on Mnet’s M! Countdown and they also got the first spot on KBS Music Bank not long after they debuted. With all their achievements as a rookie it was a no doubt that they were able to get the M.Net Asian Music Awards for Female Rookie and they also grabbed other awards from different events.

This group didn’t fail any of my expectations and I guess other girl bands should prepare because I can sense a fierce battle next year!
