As 2010 is coming to a close, we’re calling the best of the best, the record-breakers, and the crowd favorites to Ningin’s End of the Year Awards! And the nominees for Best Artist are…


Far East Movement
Asians have found their place in mainstream pop thanks to Far East Movement, whose hit single “Like a G6″ has earned double platinum status and has claimed the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Top 100 (among other big music charts). That’s the first time any Asian-American group has done that and FM should be recognized for it.


SNSD
It’d be ridiculous to not include this group in the running for Best Artist, especially since they’ve just nabbed the Daesang Award at the Golden Disk Awards. And that’s just one of the many awards SNSD has earned throughout 2010, along with many wins on music programs like Music Bank and Inkigayo.


Arashi
On the Jpop scene, this group stands tall. Their songs have dominated the Oricon several times this year and they won a whopping total of 10 awards at Japan Gold Disc Awards this year alone.


Fahrenheit
This group represents the best of Cpop this year, as shown through the many “Best/Most Popular Group” awards they’ve won in China and Taiwan. Their newest album even features a song dedicated to their fans in thanks for their support. Brownie points for that!


2AM
In a pop-crazed Asia, this ballad group definitely stands out. Not only have they won many awards (i.e. Digital Music Daesang at the Golden Disk Awards) and topped the charts on Music Bank and Inkigayo, they were also chosen to represent Asia on the 2010 Fifa World Cup Album.

So who’s the Editor’s Choice for Best Artist of 2010? Drumroll please!

Congratulations SNSD! Their popularity knows no bounds. In addition to the dozens of awards they’ve won, they had an extremely successful debut in Japan (winning many awards and topping the Oricon there as well) and finished up their first concert tour, which sold out in three minutes, this year. For the first half of 2010, SNSD sold more albums than any other artist, and they were the first girl group ever to win the Disk Daesang at the Golden Disk Awards. And need I remind you how Oh! topped music charts just minutes within its release? SNSD made history this year and for that, I award them Best Artist.
