Every culture has its degrees of respect, so when a video surfaced of a young woman informally confronting her elders on a subway in Korea, netizens really let her have it. Watch the whole thing play out below.

Basically, the woman was sitting in a section of the subway reserved for the elderly and disabled, quarreling with a senior commuter in banmal - informal speech used between close friends and juniors. Here’s a translation of what she said:

(banmal girl) - “I’m getting off soon so you can sit down then.”
(elderly woman) - “Watch how you speak. You oughtn’t speak in that manner. He’s senior enough to be your father or grandfather.”
(banmal girl) - “It’s because I **** hate it when strangers talk to me.”
(she continues) - “I can’t think straight as it is to stop talking to me. Why bother copping abuse for talking to a kid you don’t even know?”

The video ends with the elderly woman saying, “The world is going to the dogs.” Comments on the incident flooded the video, all negative, condemning such behavior from a woman in her 20s. You can leave yours in the comment section below.
