Ichiro, part of the Seatle Mariners, has just donated 100 million yen towards the Earthquake relief. That’s around 1.27 million dollars USD, since the yen has been rising over the past week. It would’ve only been 1.23 million dollars USD less than a week ago.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Mariners have stated that they will match however much their fans and front office employees donate to the Red Cross. They have also stated that they will make a guaranteed donation of $100,000 to meet the match requirements. A highly generous act indeed.

Nintendo America, one of the major owners of the Mariners will also be making their own earthquake reliefs donations. The main company in Japan has already donated roughly $3.7 million USD (300,000,000 yen.)

At the first homegame of the Mariners, Red Cross volunteers will be in the stands collecting donations at sections 123, 233, and 329. They will also be outside collecting donations. The team is also donating proceeds from its first Mariners Care silent auction on April 9 to the Red Cross.
