Snack time is almost over and with that Mixr Legions Test #3 as well. Only about 4 days remaining for teams to change their standing. As it stands here are the current scores: Chocopie (1570), Pocky (1029), Lucky Candy (909), Black Black (846), and Pepero (666). I thought Hello Panda might have made a run for 5th, but they didn’t manage their Territories well enough. Black Black is close enough to Lucky Candy to represent the only real race remaining. The difference between them is just 60 points. One strong day of Legion Olympics and Daily Domination is all it would take. Lucky Candy also has a smallish chance of taking second from Pocky. It would take two strong days from them and of course Pocky would need to do nothing during this time. I guess we’ll see in a few days…

Overall this was a good test run. I feel like we’re close to a finished product but there are a couple major tweaks that I need to make to the scoring. There hasn’t been much variation in standing for the past week and that’s mainly because of Territories. The next test will have various Territories costs adjusted.

We’re also going to make a change to Legion Olympics. Future Olympics will have a random end time that won’t be specified. This way users can’t just try to submit a last minute score which I feel is unfair to those in far away time zones.

Many people have asked why all the testing? Well, I’m trying to figure out the ideal scoring system, team arrangement, and contest structure. During a test, I can change these values at will. I wouldn’t do that for an official session.

Also, I had originally envision people making their own teams instead of me asking for signups and trying to create balanced legions. This way, any number of teams can form and we would potentially have dozens of Legions at once. However, one of the more surprising benefit of participating in Mixr Legions is the close bond that some people form while in a team together with people that normally may or may not have talk to each other otherwise. Since I’m not much for fixing what isn’t broken, I’ll continue to try and organize the teams myself.

Good luck to all the Legions!

The signups for the next Mixr Legions test will be posted soon. Stay tuned for that!
