Seo In Gook has experience a few setbacks for his comeback on several music shows. The Superstar K winner tweeted his disappointment, saying, “I don’t drink and drive, nor do I do drugs. So why can I not perform on music programs as I wish? I would like to express my infinite gratitude towards Mnet and KBS for permitting me to perform on their shows. I will be giving everything I have.”
From this tweet, many speculate that this rejection is because of network bias and the icy relationship between cable and public broadcast networks. Because of his former status and affiliation with Mnet (Superstar K is hosted by Mnet), public networks refuse to let him appear.
These issues aren’t new because ever since his debut, Seo In Gook’s had to deal with all of these. Though he’s won #1 on Mnet’s Countdown, he hasn’t done so hot on KBS and SBS and has never had the privilege of performing on MBC’s Music Core.
Despite all of this, he has vowed to show off a phenomenal comeback stage for ‘M! Countdown’ on March 31st.
Personally, I think this is a crying shame. Despite his Spock-like haircut (I dislike it a bit), not only does he have the looks but he has the talent that should be broadcast on those public networks. There are some idol groups with very little vocal talent out there who have debuted recently and given the honor of performing on all four music programs, which is just wrong in my humble opinion.
Do you think Seo In Gook should be allowed to perform on SBS and MBC?
