SBS’s newest show “Kiss & Cry” finally aired it’s first episode on May 22nd. The show line-up itself is jam-packed with 10 famous stars - Kim Byung Man, Yunho, IU, Son Dambi, Lee Kyu Hyuk, Krystal, Suh Ji Suk, Park Joon Geum, Lee Ah Hyun, and Jin Ji Hee. All of these hopefuls are competing for a chance to appear in “Kim Yuna’s Ice Show” this August. So who will win? My guess is that it will be DBSK’s Jung Yunho.
Even though it was the first episode, Yunho proved why he’s one of the top KPOP idols out there. His versatile biography already includes singing, dancing, and acting. But now, he can safely add “ice skater” on there. He performed his routine on ice just like he would perform his choreography to “Keep Your Head Down” on stage, executing his moves perfectly and effortlessly. The results from practicing in the middle of the night aside from his busy schedule definitely payed off. One could easily say that his performance was the best of the night.
He even had a light up suit with matching skates. I mean, the second you see that, you know he’s in it to win it. And on top of that, he performed to a marathon of Michael Jackson hits. The King of Stage performing the King of Pop’s songs? Coincidence? I think not. I’d also like to point out that the man MOONWALKED ON ICE not once, but TWICE for crying out loud.
Let’s get to the audience’s reactions. The iconic music and dance moves were already enough to get the noonas on the sidelines riveted up. Then Yunho starts sliding on his knees, pointing at the audience, and endlessly spinning and BAM, the noonas start screaming like little girls. His moves were impressive enough to make the queen of ice skating Kim Yuna’s mouth drop open a number of times. Once his performance was sadly over, he received a standing ovation and won the roses (and hearts) of a majority of the spectators. The ice rink floor was covered in flowers in a matter of seconds!
Yunho slaughtered the competition that night by having a top score of 35.3. If this is only the first episode, I can’t wait to see what he brings to the ice next time!
