Okay, so maybe it’s already over by now, but very recently on May 27th, Super Junior’s evil maknae Kyuhyun celebrated his 5th debut anniversary on SuJu M’s second to last day in Taiwan. (They’ve been there for two months!) Way back on May 27th, 2006, Kyuhyun joined the team. This was six months after Super Junior debuted as a 12-member group. During SuJu’s 5th anniversary fan party in November 2010, this maknae had reminded everyone that it was not his 5th anniversary yet, hoping that a celebration would also be held in his honor when his turn came.
To celebrate Kyuhyun’s anniversary, Taiwanese ELFs dedicated a quarter-page ad in Taipei’s Apple Daily Newspaper with the nice words “SJ-M daebak” and “Congratulations to Game Kyu’s 5th Debut Anniversary.” On May 27th, Super Junior M went to a radio show in Taiwan, where Kyuhyun confirmed that he had seen the ad himself. To rub it in his fellow SuJu members’ faces, he claimed that “the members have not yet congratulated me! They have forgotten.” Zhou Mi then proclaimed, “You’re an old idol now…it’s been 5 years!” Eunhyuk deviously added that it is not necessary to throw Kyuhyun a celebration because they were promoting “Perfection” at the moment. Poor Kyu continued to express even greater disappointment towards his hyungs because of their responses.
Kyuhyun had tweeted about his anniversary on Friday, thanking all the fans who have been supporting him ever since he debuted. In the midst of celebrating, he also expressed his sadness towards the news of Chae Dongha’s suicide in the same tweet. “Although this should be a happy day, I can’t bring myself to be happy…my heart hurts…I hope you will go to a better place.”
As for the group, Super Junior M will continue their activities on Saturday in Malaysia and then travel back to Taipei for two fan parties. These will be held on June 6th. Donghae and Siwon will stay in Taiwan, as they continue the filming of their Taiwanese drama, “Extravagant Challenge” aka “Skip Beat.”
