Looks like the world can’t end in 2012 because China will be opening its very own Hello Kitty theme park in 2014! Construction is planned to start in July and will be in the Zhejiang province. It’s been estimated that the yearly amount of visitors for the park will be one million, mostly preteens and young women.

With 150 acres full of this popular Sanrio character, no one will be bored! There’s even rumors that a Hello Kitty theme park will open up in the United States, as popular brands such as Lego have their own. Japan, home of Hello Kitty, already has not one, but two Hello Kitty parks. One is Puroland, an indoor 500,000 square foot park located just in the outskirts of Tokyo. The other is Harymonyland (the picture up above) in Kyushu with 60 acres. Both have rollercoasters, parades, and even special fireworks during the night, similar to Disneyland.

If I get to visit China in 2014, I’m definitely waiting in line for those rides!
