For today’s Daily Rant, I want to discuss the touchy topic on whether or not some idol members are worthy enough of being in that group. First of all, I just want to clarify that there is no such thing as a useless idol and there definitely is no such thing as a talentless idol. When I’m on Youtube, Facebook, or even Tumblr, I always see this kind of thing going on. Heck, the other day I was on Yahoo Answers and there was a question that just angered me so much. The person asked: “Why is Minho even in SHINee? He can’t sing at all and he’s just there.” That’s the thing. Everyone’s judging based on an idol’s role in the group and assuming that the idol can’t do anything else. Minho is a rapper and a very good one at that. It doesn’t mean that he can’t dance or sing though. The boy knows how to move his body to the beat very well and his voice is absolutely heavenly. Just because he’s the main rapper does not mean that he can’t do any of the other things. It’s kind of like their hidden ability that they only use when needed.

I’m pretty sure that idols weren’t “accidently” chosen either. At auditions, the judges pour tons of thinking into choosing the applicants, making sure that they choose the right person who might change the music industry. Even if that applicant did stink in the beginning, that was still only the beginning. The trainees do have to go through hours and hours of practice each day, working to improve themselves. Idols barely even get to sleep! Yoochun’s been so busy that he only gets one hour of sleep a day. How crazy is that? They work hard day and night for us fans and yet once they decide to focus on a specific role, people assume that that’s all they do. I’m just disappointed in those fans that believe that because I know there’s a lot of stress in an idol’s life. They worry about their image, their clothes, their reputation, whether or not they pulled off the dance move correctly. Every person has their worries and so do idols. I’d just like to clarify that the next time someone says something like Taemin can’t sing or Kiseop can’t dance.
