Alexander, an ex-member of U-Kiss, shares his thoughts about the changes in KPop and the numerous debuts.Other people have detected that he’s feeling bitter and “butthurt”, and I can predict some backlash for these tweets, but regardless, he does speak some truth. K-Pop “baby boom” is a pretty good term. I don’t remember a time when new groups came out this fast; before, I could at least keep track of all the names, even though I didn’t stan every single debut.

Also, anybody else feel old like Xander? I used to be amazed that Taemin and IU debuted at such a young age; now younger and younger idols are debuting in groups! It’s insane the baby talent that they’re pumping out these days.

How do you feel, Ningin? Are you embracing the new groups or do you miss the individualized, less commercialized groups from 2008 and earlier?

it’s true.... they are debuting at such a young age… true, most of them do have talent and charm, but for a country such as South Korea where education plays such an important role, this could be hard on them, too!
i think the entertainment companies want them younger since they would be able to last longer.. especially with the boys, since they’d have to join the army sooner or later (well, in this case, LATER)… this doesn’t mean i agree with them, though..
the reason i started loving kpop so much is coz they’re all very well trained and so they have that sense of humility you don’t see in instant superstars.

he has a point and I agree with him.. out of all the rookie groups that debuted, only one caught my attention :(

haha i agree with Alexander that there so many new idol haha

Way to make every group that has debuted feel like crap. Before anyone says anything, I do not hate Alexander. In fact, I don’t know anything about him besides his name and that he used to be in U-KISS. Anyway, these new groups may be a little commericialized, but at least the bands that recently came out have actual talent. You know that new band “Boyfriend?” The “super cute, adorable, and still handsome” group of six boys? Have you ever heard them sing live? Have you heard their MR removed versions? There’s hardly any difference, and that only shows how hard those boys have worked to put on such great performances. Don’t clump every debuting group under one generic category, especially if that category is “commercialized.”

I’m sorry, Alexander. Before, even though I knew virtually nothing about you, I at least had some respect for you.

Not anymore.

totally agree with Xander..with more and more groups debuting every week its very confusing to the public and they would have a hard time garnering fans..people still like groups that have debuted long before them (eg DBSK, SNSD, Super Junior etc).

about age though..i feel too old to like these young groups =( and i haven’t even reached 25!

lol its ok Xander your not old!
iknow! so many young people debuting!

haha awwww!! yea even i feel old and im a 1995-er and im not supposed to feel old xD sighhhh no fair i want to debut

yup i agree and yes i eel old bcoz of this…

I agree with him..there are so many new kpop groups debuting and I can’t really keep track of them..but I still love them..
Thanks for sharing!

I feel like KPop is emphasizing the “DEBUT WHEN YOU’RE YOUNG SO YOU CAN SHOW OFF!” waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too much. And the “dress code” for girls...*shudders*

Well said Xander! There are way to many idol groups right know in Korea. I have the hardest time telling girl groups apart nowadays - they look all alike now. I feel that they are trying really hard to become like SNSD. Regardless of gender, I feel that the music can be perform by any group, too. I really miss the less commercialized groups.

I have to agree with Xander!!!
It’s too many groups out there!
I have been into KPOP since the late 1990s…
and never seen this “Baby Boom” for KPOP!
I can’t even keep track of them anymore.

I agree greatly.
I remember seeing unique and talented groups. But now they do almost seem the same.

Agreed~
There are like 7 bands that came out recently~ Too many to name~ Hehe~

I totally agree with him!!! To much debut with young age! Boyfriend is like 3 of the are 15 years old. I’m not hating okay I do love them too but they are to young!!! Jo Twins Fighting

Awww poor Xander, I know what he means though, there are a lot of groups coming out at the moment.

I completely agree with Xander! Theres just too many groups. And almost none of them have unique style. They are all starting to blend together and sound the same. with the new groups there’s not really a distinct recognition for any of them. Hopefully this is it for 2011. Instead of throwing new groups out left and right they should focus on comeback with groups already out there, and keep the new ones in training to make them stronger and more UNIQUE!

I agree with Xander, the new groups are coming out one after the other, and I feel like I’m not able to give each one the love and attention I think they deserve (I like pretty much all of the new groups coming out) because a new group debuts a few days later. It’s such a whirlwind of groups

ty for sharing~
totallly agree, kpop is taking a turn`

I totally agree with Xander!! There’s too many!! I mostly like all of them.. But the thing is i can’t memorize all of them :[ i got bad memory!!  It’s so hard to keep up!! =••=
I miss him so much!! NH media did not do the right thing!!! mad

i most definitely agree with xander!
sometimes i can’t even keep up with the new groups anymore D:
i can’t even believe some members are actually the same age as me >.<

Agreed. Many of the new groups songs sound a little too similar.

PREACH! Finally, someone in the industry that says something that makes sense! I totally agree with him, not all of them are ready to be out there, competing with veterans in the industry. I think that the companies are just putting them out there since kpop is such a worldwide sensation nowadays…

I agree that groups nowadays debut at an early age. But this could not be helped. Nowadays the expectations are high and the competitions are so tense. It’s no wonder why there are even groups debuting at the age of 9 yrs old. :(
