Today’s Daily Rant is about Idols and their ages. This is something that concerns me more than it angers me, since isn’t there a point in which entertainment companies should draw an age line?
Take for example GP Basic, their average age is 14! The youngest is Byeon Seung Mee and she is 12 years old — she’s still a baby to most people right? I know there is a rule that certain ages can’t perform on stage, but still even being a idol for a 12 year old would be stressful! A lot of girls dream about becoming idols at this age, but really? I don’t think it’s right they should debut at such an age. They have school to worry about, education should come first, not being a idol. When I saw GP basic’s MV for Game I was concerned. Some of the dance moves… I mean I must be crazy if I am the only one who thinks 14 year olds hip thrusting is wrong. Even in the live shows the 12 year old gets on the floor and hip thrusts!
12 isn’t the youngest though, it gets worse, there is Girl’s Story who’s ages are between 9-11. I’m sorry but that is way too young to debut as a girl band don’t you think? I think some entertainment companies are pushing it way to far these days. They shouldn’t debut young girl groups straight away. They should at least finish a certain level of schooling before going into training. We can already see that even Lee Taemin from SHINee was bullied at school, what happens if it effects them psychologically?
What do you think of this?
