Many times, the Kpop world seems to like to purchase rights to songs that have already been released and are popular in other parts of the world, or sometimes the original english demos of the songs are later leaked or released. Other times, it happens to work the other way around in which popular songs become an inspiration for others and plagarism issues arise. This time we will be looking at G-Dragon’s This Love vs. Maroon 5’s This Love.

Ah, I think I’m partial to Maroon 5’s This Love cause I heard it first and I really like that song! But GD’s take on it isn’t bad at all. 


I think I’m more used to hearing the maroon5 version of the song because I grew up with that one but nonetheless G-Dragon is good too :D


YGE actually bought the contract off of Sony. So it’s no plagiarizing. :]


I am partial to Maroon 5’s This Love because Maroon 5 was one of the first concerts I ever went to. It was just after Songs About Jane was released and before the first single Harder to Breathe picked up on the charts.

I also love G-Dragon’s This Love, but I enjoy the concert remix versions more than his original on Big Bang’s First Single album or Since 2007 album.

At noraebang, I usually sing a mix of these two songs.


I like the fact that gd rewrote the lyrics of maroon’s 5 song and made it his own ((:

GD is awesome and he is really good I like his version better but Maroon 5 is still a classic

there is no question about it GD’s is better......i <3 his version soooooo much......it is one of my fav songs xD


I prefer G-Dragon’s right now. Maroon 5’s song is an old-time favourite, but I love G-Dragon’s twist.


i just realized that gd covered maroon 5 only a couple of weeks ago! lol pretty late with it… but i personally love gd’s version better. it has more umph in it while still being a meaningful song. though, the maroon 5 version is catchy and once you hear it, its one of those songs where you will always remember hearing it from somewhere X3

they’re both really good. i think rapping in korean sounds better and more impressive though.
