When news first broke out about Big Bang’s Daesung’s car accident that had possibly left a motorcyclist dead, my jaw dropped. I will say, I’m not a hardcore VIP, but I am a fan of Big Bang and seeing this news shocked me. Then we all got further developments, conflicting developments. First it was just an unfortunate accident, that Daesung hit a parked taxi that hit the motorcyclist. Then the taxi switched back and forth from one lane into another. Now it seems like Daesung may have possibly hit the motorcyclist before hitting the taxi. One way or another, the investigation is still ongoing. But that’s not what saddens me.

Now it seems like Daesung may have possibly hit the motorcyclist before hitting the taxi. One way or another, the investigation is still ongoing. But that’s not what saddens me.

What saddens me is fans and anti-fans and anyone who doesn’t fall into that category fighting and bickering amongst each other. I’ve been following the news as best as I can and as I read comments on each article posted, I feel sick to my stomach, furious, upset that fanwars are going on. Anti-fans bashing VIPs for defending Daesung, VIPs caring for both but more for Daesung because they “know” him more. Why so much fighting? This isn’t a time for fanwars and bashing; it’s a time for mourning and needed strength. I mean, imagine what both parties are going through. From what I know, Daesung is one of the nicest, sweetest idols out there. Can you imagine if he were the cause of this? The guilt and remorse hanging over his head would so immense. Yes, it would be a career-ender, but that’s not what he would have to worry about. He was there at the scene, he witnessed it. It’s a traumatizing experience.

Yet, for all that, we get the bashing and the fanwars. This is what I dislike about KPOP. That in times such as these, fans and anti-fans are unable to call truce, call a temporary peace and to bear strength in arms. They don’t come together for one cause. You have antis mocking Daesung, laughing at VIPs and what they all are going through. You have VIPs not only worrying about Daesung, but defending themselves and him from the wrath of antis. It’s just so wrong. And truth is, from what I’ve read, VIPs care just as much for Daesung as they do the motorcyclist. It’s just that they “know” Daesung more, so it seems like they care more for Daesung.

But a life is sacred. What good is gonna come out of this? In this situation, it’s a lose-lose cause for the motorcyclist’s family. No matter what happens to Daesung, the motorcyclist isn’t going to just come back to life. The motorcyclist is GONE. No more in this world. Nothing can change that fact. Instead, we have division and fighting going on.

This is my message for everyone:

To antis: What if your favorite idol was in Daesung’s shoes right now? Would you still be singing the same tune? Of course VIPs are going to try to defend Daesung; that’s just fact. But stop adding oil to the fire. For crying out loud, a life is now gone. We have families hurting. Respect VIPs, respect the dead.

To VIPs: I respect that you are loyal to Daesung and care more about him, but please don’t disrespect the dead. All human lives are precious. It is true that if convicted and found guilty, Daesung’s career is probably over. But remember, a life was taken. That life cannot be given back. If Daesung is found guilty, he will be remorseful and full of guilt for most of his life. The motorcyclist’s family will be saddened that their child was taken from them to early. And if the motorcyclist had a family, the spouse is now widowed, the child has lost a parent. I feel pained for both parties involved.

To everyone else: Please don’t try to incite more fanwars and rage. What we need is a sense of unity, peace, support. If we have fans and antis and everyone else bickering over each other’s comments, it shows that we are divided and right now, both parties don’t need any of us to be fighting. They want support and love, so let’s show them that.

If everyone is so divided right now, just imagine what both parties are going through. RIP to the motorcyclist and my condolences for both families for this is going to be a tough and long road.

And this can be applied to just about any accident an idol gets into that causes a death or serious injury.
