On May 31st, Super Junior’s Leeteuk guested on SBS’s “Strong Heart” and made an apology to miss A’s Suzy for the controversial statement he made regarding her weight last year.

Suzy, who was also a guest on the show, began her story by explaining, “It hasn’t even been a year yet since our debut, and I’ve been up on the chopping block so many times for my weight gain, acting, speech mistakes, falling, and even for my runny nose.” When asked what she found most hurtful, she replied, “Since I’m a girl, I have trouble dealing with weight-related controversies.”

After hearing her reply, Leeteuk looked uncomfortably at the camera, causing Heechul to jump in and explain, “Leeteuk once talked about Suzy on his radio program. While talking about miss A’s comeback, he had told her to ‘lose weight’.”

Heechul continued, “I live with Leeteuk and we randomly came across a ‘chubby Suzy’ article. He told me, ‘She doesn’t look like she gained weight at all,’ and even mentioned that he would console her the next time he saw her. On the radio show, he had actually meant to say, ‘Why are you losing weight, Suzy, you don’t have to.’ The guests on the radio show reacted too quickly before he got to complete his sentence.”

Leeteuk added, “I couldn’t conclude myself at the time. About three to four days later, people began talkng about that. I didn’t feel it was right to bring it up again so I told someone I know to send her my apologies.”

Suzy said, “I swell up naturally; maybe it’s because I’m young. It differs day to day for me in that sometimes I’ll look heavier or thinner depending on the time of day.”

It has been quite some time ago since this happened and the past is the past but what you think? Was Leeteuk’s statement just an excuse or was it truly a mistake?

most of the time, teukie is described as a responsible man…
He surely does think about what he would say because he’s carrying out 13 names in the public…
it’s probably a mistake…


Either way, I think he learned his lesson. Everyone says stupid things that they terribly regret later. I’m sure he knows that Suzy looks beautiful no matter what. She really doesn’t need to lose weight or worry too much. She looked great in Dream High!


we all have mistakes, even our idols, they are human, first I was angry at Leeteuk but the I heard he was sorry and since Suzy now takes that well, I think her fans can be ok too


It was definitely a mistake which was just taken out of hand and blown to proportion… hopefully things will not be awkward between the pair now.


I Think Its A Mistake . I Mean Suzy Shouldn’t Be So Touchy . After All , He Did Apologise But She Makes It A Big Deal By Saying It On Television . Guys Always Calls Me Fat But I’m Fine With It . I just realise she’s not even 20 . And i thought she was 23 raspberry


is tht really a so serious problem?…so do they want a totally dull program?…other people also make funs on SJ, always!…but they would never blame the others!!.....i dont see tht there is a need for saying sorry or do anything!……

A mistake? ya right. Hes just a guy. His fans love him and would believe anything he said.  I think alot of these stars need to watch what they say. They can’t just say what ever they want on air like they were in private. 


I think it was a mistake. Leeteuk wouldn’t say that! And even if it happened awhile ago he still remembered and made the effort to apologize. Which most wouldn’t have done.

LOL Teuk is a human too, so he can make mistakes~
Suzy’s weight does seem fluctuating really quickly! That’s probably because she’s still growing though~


Gah, even though it’s last year, it was nice to see him apologize~ ^^
I trust good ol’ Teukie~ ^^ He’s not mean, I’m sure he was honest and sincere about his explanation~
Plus, Suzy seemed to accept it too, his explanation~
