The Daily Rant is a new feature where I will speak freely without bias (actually, not sure if that is possible in a rant) and honestly about issues in the Asian entertainment world. Today’s Daily Rant is: over-the-top fans.

There are so many different types of fans out there and one of those types is known as the over-the-top fans. These fans are on the borderline of delusion and reality and think that the idols they love belong to them. In order to seek attention, they cut themselves and write bloody letters from just about anything. They slice their wrists and necks to prove their loves to their idols and show that they’ll do anything for them. It’s really scary because not only are they hurting themselves, but said idols are probably unnerved by this all. Heck, I’d be too! Yes, these fans would be remembered but not in a pleasant way.

Then we have those fans who throw objects to make themselves remembered. Remember that fan who through that light board at Super Junior’s Heechul and scarred his beautiful face? That was not appreciated. What if that light board hit Heechul’s eye? He would’ve probably went blind. Yesung was also hit in the eye at a SS event because fans just try to throw stuff on stage to catch the attention of idols. And when idols aren’t paying attention to a certain area, they could be hurt. Over-the-top fans need to take a chill pill. Be respectful of your idols and don’t do anything that will endanger your life just to grab their attention. Chances are, do something like anything listed here and you may as well be looked down upon in the future by said favorite idols. I shudder at the thought of those bloody letters! Imagine how those idols feel when they hear about it.

i saw an article wherein a fan wrote an idol with menstruation blood and there are some pubic hair with it… eeewwwwhhhh.... it’s really gruesome…


ok they are so crazy..the idols are never going to like them..


I read somewhere that they also pay taxi drivers to follow their idols around all day and text them where they are so that the fans can go there even if they go to a cafe or something…
These people need to know that they have limits and that they are causing harm to their idols…


Some Fans Are Just Acting Too Much . Its Cool If You Like The Celebrity And Stuffs But DOn’t Hurt Them . They’re only humans like us . You can’t expect them to be entertaining you all the time . They have other fans too .

I agree that fans can sometimes become to enthusiastic.  I’ve seen footage of JYJ in China and the fans are so violent in order to get Jaejoong’s attention that he barely made it to the venue without being harmed badly.

yep. there are a lot of fans like that… and, considering how most of our idols really care for their fans, they wouldn’t want them to go and hurt themselves. aigoo~ i think we better get started on creating that chill pill.

T_T I feel so bad for the stars when they are involved in incidents with their so-called fans!
People should learn to not cross the line even if they are super fans~

Bloody Letters… *shudders* They are.... Nah, I’m not even gonna talk about it…
I agree, there are some CRAZY fans out there......
They’re so horrible, they’re as bad ash haters.... I mean, sure, you love the,, but cutting yourself? Really? That just makes your idol scared and worried.... Not very smart, eh...?
I don’t know.. There’s all sorts of people out there: From super considerate people, to the psych-paths.....
