When you think of the Korean dramas you love, you probably think of the storyline and the acting that made you love said dramas. But probably what caught your attention the most was the chemistry the lead couple (or secondary couples) showed and how compatible they seemed together as if they were a real couple. So I took the liberty in choosing 11 Korean Drama couples that I found to be simply amazing in no order whatsoever (and probably left out a whole slew of others)! [Caution: May contain spoilers if you haven't watched the dramas. Proceed at your own risk.]

Bae Yong Joon and Choi Ji Woo in Winter Sonata: This has to be one of my favorite couples of all times. The two were amazing together. Never mind that they first played high school teenagers (well beyond their age), but their sad love story and how they portrayed those feelings really touched me. Jung Yujin (Choi Ji Woo) still loved Kang Joonsang/Lee Minhyun (Bae Yong Joon) had disappeared and wasn’t heard from for a long time. A love that transcends time? You betcha!

Lee Sun Gyun and Gong Hyo Jin in Pasta: Even if Choi Hyun Wook (Lee Sun Gyun) makes you want to bash heads for eternity, you have to watch it because of how he interacted with Seo Yookyung (Gong Hyo Jin), whose determination and naivety won her the admiration of her fellow peers. And how can you not love the “Ye, chep!”?! Or “You’re pireddddddd!” (Note that the “f” sounds like “p” in Korean.) Too funny!

Kim Soo Hyun and miss A’s Suzy in Dream High: Go Hyemi (Suzy) is your typical bratty girl to begin with until she realizes that there are hardships in life. And Song Samdong (Kim Soo Hyun), well, he’s your nice pretty boy who helps the girl he loves and follows her around wherever she goes. But I loved him when he was following her around innocently like a little puppy until he turned into a “bad boy” (and I still loved him). He always loved her but we didn’t find out her true feelings until later. No matter, he was always there for her when she needed him and it was just too cute!

Song Seung Hun and Kim Tae Hee in My Princess: Rich, selfish guy? Check. Poor, yet crafty and happy girl? Check. It’s rich, miserable boy meets poor, happy girl (in a way). And how can you not like the two? Lee Seol (Kim Tae Hee) is your ordinary, poor girl. That is, until she finds out that she’s a princess. Park Hae Young (Song Seung Hun) is your filthy rich guy with loads of money. That is, until he finds out that his money belongs to Princess Lee Seol. The drama is filled with their bickering and differences in upbringing, but will also warm your heart with their cuteness.

Lee Minho and Goo Hye Sun in Boys over Flowers: One of my all-time favorite dramas. Ever. Period. I don’t care if it’s overrated; to me, it was good. It made me want to keep watching. And that was buoyed with the help of Geum Jandi (Goo Hye Sun) and Goo Jun Pyo (Lee Minho). Again, it’s your classic rich-boy-meets-poor-girl-who-tries-to-work-too-many-jobs-to-help-family. And again, like My Princess, Jandi helps Jun Pyo see life outside of the money and rich world. You first have Jandi hating Jun Pyo’s guts, then Jun Pyo falls in love with her (though he denies it and just tries to pass it off as teasing her endlessly) because she’s the first girl to stand up to him. Then you have Jandi falling in love with him and hurt ensues from misunderstandings. But their chemistry together was just so awesome!

Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah in My Girlfriend is a Gumiho: I don’t think you can deny a spot on this list to the Hoi Hoi Couple. Cha Dae Woong (Lee Seung Gi) accidentally freed the Gumiho (Shin Min Ah), who was grateful to him for her freedom and helped save his life. Her playfulness, innocence, coupled with his initial stubbornness makes this couple one to watch! If you haven’t watched this drama, you should as their chemistry really shines throughout the drama.

2PM’s Wooyoung and IU in Dream High: The ‘Milky Couple’ was everyone’s favorite couple in Dream High. There’s no denying it! Pilsook (IU) was a chubby girl who was plain in looks but had an awesome voice and liked Jason (Wooyoung), American good-looking playboy who was popular in the school. But Pilsook would always leave cute notes behind (Hello Jason! Love, Pil Sook ♥) and Jason was always intrigued. Then they played role reversal where Jason would be sad to see no note or lollipop on his locker. I’m sure everyone squealed with delight when they ended up together (I know I did!).

CNBLUE’s Yonghwa and Park Shin Hye in You’re Beautiful: Yes, I realize that this was not an official couple in You’re Beautiful. But I seriously loved this couple to death. Over Jang Geun Seuk and Park Shin Hye (yes, I said it!). Shin Woo (Yonghwa) was always so protective of Go Mi Nam (Park Shin Hye); not only did he take care of her but he always saved her at the nick of time. Mi Nam, why didn’t you see this prince who was willing to help you in any way? He was always watching, watching from a distance, but sometimes up close and even though I knew of the outcome, I desperately wished this to be true.

Rain and Song Hye Kyo in Full House: I almost stopped watching this drama. I couldn’t take the repetitiveness of guy is mean, guy hurts girl, girl is mad at guy, guy wonders why girl is mad, guy tries to make up. It was episode after episode after episode that nearly made me tear my hair out. But the cute, bickering nature of Lee Young Jae (Rain) and Han Ji Eun (Song Hye Kyo) made it good enough to watch. Young Jae’s cute smiling face, that of a boy, whenever he did something nice for Ji Eun. And it took him a while to realize his feelings, but then again, most guys do, right?

Kim Bum and Kim So Eun in Boys over Flowers: Again, another drama where not the lead couple, but the supporting couple gets more love. I’m not sure if So Yi Jung (Kim Bum) and Chu Ga Eul (Kim So Eun) ever became a couple in the drama (it was implied), but their chemistry together led to the nickname “SoEul” mates. And soulmates, they were. After all, Ga Eul’s innocent nature made Yi Jung think twice about his playboy nature and just slowly, ever so slowly, the two began bonding together. And what’s more is that they make a very pretty couple. Bonus points!

Joo Ji Hoon and Yoon Eun Hye in Goong: Arranged marriages are no fun. That’s what happened to Lee Shin (Joo Ji Hoon) and Shin Chaekyung (Yoon Eun Hye), who are forced to marry thanks to their grandfathers’ promise to one another. Chaekyung, who before was a poor girl, is suddenly forced into royalty life and falls in love with Lee Shin because he’s the only one around. Her naive, bubbly, innocent persona slowly starts to break down Lee Shin’s cold shell and though he denies it, it’s evident that he cares for her, though he still does things to hurt her. Men. But you can’t deny the sparks that flew between the two as their acting seemed more natural than anything else.
