Back in February 2011, KARA’s Seungyeon, Nicole, and Jiyoung sent shockwaves throughout the music industry when it was reported that the three had filed a lawsuit against their agency, DSP Media, over the terms of their contracts. Eventually, the three members reached a compromise with their agency and the lawsuit was withdrawn.

However, ASK, a clothing brand KARA models for, revealed on the 24th that they had decided to sue DSP Media for damaging their image.

The fashion company expressed, “The media has been reporting the incident where KARA’s members, due to issues relating to income allocation for the members, did not get along and wanted to disband. This incident has damaged our company’s label and image. DSP Media should pay us $445 million won (approximately $409,000 USD) in damages.”

ASK and DSP Media had signed a commercial contract for KARA last year and early this year, but due to the controversy surrounding KARA’s lawsuit, they were forced to cancel the contract.
