Ever since the news of BEAST’s Junhyung and KARA’s Goo Hara were confirmed to be dating, I had braced myself for the expected deluge of hate comments and bashing. Instead, most of that never washed down my way. It seems that a lot of love is being poured onto this couple when most would think that fans would go crazy.
Don’t get me wrong - I think this couple is extremely adorable. In fact, I found myself very amused when I found out about it earlier. But count me as flabbergasted. After all, here’s another IDOL couple, one that has a guy that’s pretty popular amongst girls (and he never gets the girl in the MV) and a girl that is beautiful and pretty and like a doll. Oh wait, where have I heard that before? Oh, that’s right, when SHINee’s Jonghyun and Shin Se Kyung were in a relationship (and I thought this couple was just so sweet-looking!). Let me tell you, the hate I saw towards the couple (more Shin Se Kyung) was heartbreaking to see. Shawols were crying foul, bashing Shin Se Kyung, even threatening her.
The JunHara couple and the JongKyung couple follow the same logic: already dating for a month, pictures in a somewhat lit area, and only confirmations from the companies. Both couples are popular, cute, and seemed really happy. So what I don’t get is why the JunHara couple is receiving more love (I do wish to keep it that way). What makes this couple different from the JongKyung couple? It makes no sense (and my world revolves around logic!) whatsoever. I’m confused, lost.
Is it because B2UTYs are more mature than Shawols? Perhaps since SHINee’s average age is younger than that of BEAST’s average age, and thus, Shawols could be younger. Or is it because we already saw what kind of backlash the JongKyung couple received and B2UTYs don’t want to see that happen? Or perhaps it could even be because Goo Hara looks more innocent than Shin Se Kyung looks? Who knows for certain. All I can say is that I’m honestly baffled because how could you support one couple and not the other couple when basically, it’s the same story? (And no, don’t namecall people that you don’t know.)
What are your thoughts on this? Why does it seem like there’s not as much hate going around?
