“Bubble pop!” I thought of bubble gum and blowing bubbles when I first saw the title. HyunA has made a comeback with mini-album “Bubble Pop!” recently. The title track is cute and fun to listen to.

I seriously thought the audio for the video was broken after the halt and repeat in the intro instrumental. Then I realized that was the style of the composition, which actually goes really well with HyunA’s singing. The staccato “Ooh ah”s and other electronically-manipulated sound effects added texture to the short little breaks in between verses so the feeling gained from hearing the vocals before wouldn’t die off. Full of spunk and excitement, this song is perfect for the summer weather and season.

The lyrics: The girl is basically scolding her “distrusting” boyfriend, telling him that no matter what he better not leave her or replace her, from the beginning to end of their relationship. If he did, she would rather go meet someone else, and he better not complain. He has doubtful thoughts and questions if she would go out late at night or not answer his phone calls. She asks why is he being like that and asking those questions. Does he not believe in her? What does he see in her when he looks at her? The guy shouldn’t wish for more out of her because there is no one better for him than she herself. The bubbles being popped are the his heart’s lies.

I give the song a 4 out of 5! It really is something unique, with the “poppy” sounds and the catchy melody line. The title of the track totally matches the content. It took me the second time of hearing it through to appreciate the style more, but HyunA is really talented and has a pretty voice. Good luck to her on promotions for the mini-album!
