T-ara’s unique outfits for “Roly-Poly” have been getting a lot of attention lately for being both fun and on-point with their retro theme. But interestingly, the girls revealed that they cried when they first heard of their wardrobe concept for the song.
The members confessed, “We were so embarrassed of the outfits - even more so that the gloves we wore for ‘Bo Peep Bo Peep‘. They looked like they were picked by our moms right from a flea market. Shirts with wide collars, baggy disco pants, colourful button ups, and even a handkerchief to wrap around your neck.”
The wardrobe concept was given to the girls when they saw other girl groups like SNSD and KARA in pretty, ‘girl group-like’ clothes.
The members refused to wear it, but were then reprimanded by their CEO.
The members showed their surprise when they realised the reaction they received when they wore it on stage. “Not only people enjoy them, but we’d often receive questions from adults asking where we bought the clothes; they told us that it makes them feel reminiscent about their youths. We felt proud. Ever since then, we began wondering about other things we could show on stage to help bring back the memories of everyone’s youths.”

What do you think about T-ara’s retro outfits? Did you cry with them at first or love it from start to finish?
