Pledis Entertainment is the name behinds the likes of After School and Son Dambi, so they have been quite successful. Recently, general manager Han Sung Su, spoke out about the various aspects of the entertainment company.
He revealed that the After School graduation system is what makes them special, adding, “It seemed like too much of a waste for the talents of the individual if a group disappears just because one person leaves. That is why we created this group.”
He mentioned how each member had their own specialty, such as Kahi’s fiery dancing or recent member, E-Young’s musical talents.
He said, “There are some views that say that the image of the girl group, in itself, is not viable in the long run. That’s why we are using individuality and diversity as a weapon.”
He also spoke out about the upcoming debut of new group After School Boys and revealed that they will not have the graduation system, but will focus on individual talents. “It’s getting harder to secure a place for male idol groups in Korea,” said Han. “But with After School Boys, we will put up a fight using our diversity.”
He also mentioned After School’s Japan debut, and said “After School is gaining a good response in Japan. They are becoming more competitive, not only domestically, but internationally as well. Please look forward to our new attempts in the future.”
Looking forward to what Pledis has in store!
