13 Awesome KPOP Maknaes

The maknae is youngest of his or her group, and there are quite a lot of notable ones in KPop groups that really do get a lot of attention. Whether if it is for their cuteness, clumsiness, evilness, innocence, talents, or something else, people recognize them. Let’s take a look at some awesome KPop makaes!

Note: My apologies beforehand, as not all maknaes can be included in this list. Also, they aren’t competing against each other in order of preference. ~~Kyu might be, though.~~

1. Cho Kyuhyun from Super Junior

Perhaps one of the most popular maknaes in the whole KPop industry, Kyuhyun has earned himself a plethora of nicknames due to his “evilness,” witty sharp tongue, and the way he treats his hyungs. It is well known that he is a huge fan of StarCraft, the love of his life–er, besides the members he claims to be his. Lovely singing voice which gets featured a lot in Super Junior= yay! He’s too awesome to even put into describable words…

2. Lee Taemin from SHINee

I admit, he’s my personal maknae favorite. Love that shy smile of his. This boy has quite the skills being SHINee’s main dancer, being innocent and sweet to his hyungs, though sometimes has a playful rebellious streak, as one can expect. Much to the disappointment of Taemin, others have often joked around, saying that he looks like a cute/pretty girl because of his baby face. Recall how he draws the noonas in. Well, he’s getting there (manliness-wise)!

3. No Minwoo from Boy Friend

Yet another dancing machine of a maknae! He also raps for Boyfriend, so double win. With a cute appearance and a cute voice (in my opinion), he is sure to win many girls over especially. Some guys might look up to him for his dancing, but I wouldn’t know, haha.

4. Shim Changmin from DBSK

Forever, to me he is the straight-forward maknae of the 5-member DBSK. Even if only counting Homin (which I would rather not do), he still the younger of the two. His asymmetrical eyes are adorable. He has aegyo, a manly sexy side, and a powerful awesome Changmin scream. Some special vocal chords he has there! Treasure and keep them healthy, Changmin.

5. Seohyun from SNSD

Known to be the innocent, youthful and charming maknae of SNSD, Seohyun is one of the main vocalists in the group. Her doll-like beauty has captured audiences, earning online votes for a poll as being a girl group member who shows the best natural beauty. Being smart and studious is also a plus!

6. Son Dongwoon from B2ST

Since debut, Dongwoon’s looks have grabbed much attention for looking handsomly “foreign.” He self-proclaimed himself captain of KPop’s ‘91ers and is the tallest member in B2ST although he’s the youngest! In my opinion, he looks older than his age, and older than some of the other members in his group. Dongwoon holds pride in the fact that he can play the piano. I still remembered how he played a surprise game of StarCraft with fans. That was so nice of him!

7. Lee Sungjong from Infinite

For some reason, I really like this kid’s voice. One could say that he, like Taemin, has a really cute and feminine complexion, having the “pretty boy” look. He has a shy but funny personality, can dance sexily to girl group dances and sing high notes in songs sweetly.

8. Mir from MBLAQ

Once, Mir said, “Farts are natural but my members get so crazy when I fart. There isn’t one person on Earth that doesn’t fart. I fart with ease so I have more power… I love the smell of my farts. I want to sell a perfume that has the scent of my farts.” Ever since hearing about that hilarious declaration from this rapper, I haven’t exactly been able to take this maknae seriously because this keeps popping up in my head, haha. Such a lively, hyper, fun, crazy guy who jokes around a lot!

9. Seungri from Big Bang

Energetic, outgoing and strong-headed Seungri is also really cute and crazily fun, according to many. He’s a very real person, even though some have gotten offended by some of his comments. Seungri is a very passionate maknae and likes to do many things to accomplish his dreams. He even released a solo album!

10. Minzy from 2NE1

Bright and funny dancing talent Minzy also sings and raps for her group. With her talent, she joined YG Entertainment when she was in 6th grade and won several dance awards before debut. Minzy wants to be a good maknae, the one that is the legendary and original in YG. I liked her duet with CL in “Please Don’t Go” while the 2NE1 members were promoting singles.

11. Choi Minhwan from FT Island

The Little Drummer Boy is a mere 3 months younger than Seunghyun. Minhwan is always cleaning up after the other members, no surprise there. He has a cute personality and I adore the way his eyes get so small when he smiles. Watching him smile makes you want to smile too. He really likes dandelions (say what), Pikachu (like Kwangmin) and chicken (like Onew). Everyone, send your dandelions to him! Just kidding.

12. Shin Dongho from U-Kiss

This unpredictable boy can communicate in Chinese, due to having studied in Beijing. Compared to the other older 6 members, he is the most active in the group because he participated in projects and appearing on various reality TV shows. It has been said he sometimes has a double personality, being cute but then rash and “Mr. I-could-care-less.” I like Dongho’s warm smile and baby face!

13. Hwang Chansung from 2PM

When I first heard about 2PM, I seriously thought that Wooyoung was the maknae. However, manly and outgoing rapping Chansung, who an ambitious beast when it comes to video games and eating, is the youngest. He is sensitive though, with a very cute, sweet nature. A funny Chansung story was when he was accused of farting, thus stopping MV filming.

Well, there you have it. Maknae power! Some maknaes have really gotten their name out there while others could use a little boost. Must defeat their seniors!!!
