September 11 to September 13 is the Korean holiday known as Chuseok, otherwise known as Korean Thanksgiving. It’s a three-day holiday where Koreans go back home and celebrate the good harvest with Korean traditional food such as songpyeon and rice wines such as sindoju and dongdongju. It lands during the Autumn Equinox and is somewhat like Lunar Festival, though not really. During this holiday, Koreans also like to dress up in traditional Korean clothing known as hanboks. So, to celebrate this holiday, I thought I’d share with you your favorite KPOP idols dressed up in their beautiful hanboks!
Typically, for this holiday, I prefer the female hanboks. There’s just more design and things you can do with them! Though I suppose you could always add flower designs to the male hanboks, right? Onward ho to the hanbok viewing gallery!

2AM and 2PM are dressed in simple hanboks with flower designs on their vests. 2AM’s hanboks are more simple, but still adorned with bright colors. As for 2PM’s hanboks, I guess their stylist was in a flowery mood. Jay Park’s hanbok is extremely floral.

BEAST wore two different hanbok sets for their Chuseok greetings this year. One set is full of solid colors, with the exception of Hyunseung. The other set sees BEAST with some floral designs on their hanboks, except for Hyunseung yet again. Hyunseung, did you get your hanboks mixed up?

2NE1’s Dara looks quite the stunner in her hanbok. Unfortunately, I couldn’t really find a group picture of 2NE1 in hanboks. It’s quite weird, really. Though I feel like Dara is part of some historical drama in this picture. Why is that, Dara?

Oh look, it’s DBSK in hanboks! Wouldn’t it be nice if they were 5 again? Seeing their big happy smiles here brings a tear to my eyes. Seems like they opted for the nice plain colors. Though JYJ is wearing the same color pants here. Hmm.

f(x) is looking quite beautiful in their hanboks! This was taken when they first debuted (more like the year that they debuted in). As we all know, Amber is the tomboy of the group, so she has opted to wear the male version of the hanbok. Which, by the way, looks fantastic on her! I’m not really a fan of the pink top-green skirt that Krystal has on. It just doesn’t really match. Well, those specific colors. If she wore something like Sulli’s…

Like Dara above him, BIG BANG seemingly has no group picture of themselves wearing hanboks. Pity, really, because GD makes it look really good. Like really good. He pulls off the floral design like it’s nothing! And if you noticed, the vest has a little different design. Says who male hanboks are boring? Ok, I did.

IU definitely looks amazing in hanboks! There’s just something about her that allows her to pull off anything that she’s wearing. With the soft colors and big smiles, IU looks very pure and innocent. Hey, stylists, let her wear modern hanboks, yeah? I want to see!

For some reason, I really like MBLAQ’s hanboks! Perhaps it’s because the floral designs don’t stand out too much. Except for G.O.’s three butterflies. And I wonder where Seungho went off too. But I do like all the colors - colorful, but don’t stand out much. Blends in with the environment!

SHINee doesn’t have many pictures in hanboks, which leaves me astounded. Seems like the only time they really wore hanboks before Chuseok was the year they debuted in. Come on, guys! Wear more hanboks! You look great! Not really digging Jonghyun’s red socks. They are socks, right? I was thinking more white there, Jonghyun.

I really love this picture of SNSD to begin with. All the colors are really beautiful. They’re more like pastel, spring colors, which is soft on the eyes. They are also wearing the traditional hanbok hats and hairpins, which makes it even more traditional. Though I’m not too certain about those hats they’re wearing (Seohyun, Yuri, and Taeyeon). I think they should’ve wore those hairpins.

SS501’s hanboks are simplistic, clean, good-looking. I like simple and clean-cut. Though Park Jung Min, floral designs on your pants? I think you should’ve let flower boy Kim Hyun Joong wear them. Or better yet, you could’ve matched your group members with solid pants!

I love Super Junior and all, but I’m not really digging those flower designs. Well, to be fair, I think most male hanboks have floral designs, so not much I can do about them. But they should be a little more subtle. And really not digging those olive-colored pants. Super Junior stylist, you could’ve done better with the color coordination! But what do I know about color coordinating?
So these are just but a handful of idols who have posed while wearing traditional hanboks. I know there are way more out there but who knows how long it would take to hunt down every single group wearing hanboks?
Which group/idol do you think looks the best wearing hanboks? Stay tuned for the modern hanboks edition!
