The Ningin Round Table is a feature in which we pose an Asian entertainment news-related question to Ningin writers and they give us their colorful opinions and thoughts on the matter. With New York Fashion Week recently wrapping up, we asked, “Which idol would you like to see walk the runway?” Here’s what they had to say:

Anabel Martinez: The idol that I would most like to see walk the runway would definitely be After School’s Nana. There was a huge netizen response over a fantaken photo last year at an airport which showed off her slim and tall physique, looking glamorous despite wearing casual attire that consisted of a simple white tank top and shorts. She looked like a supermodel showing off her long lean legs and straight posture. Her face, even when expressionless, has a bit of whimsy which is very eye catching and hard to forget. After School had a single called “Bang!” and some of the shots consisted of the members walking down a pink runway, needless to say I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Nana. Earlier this month, Nana was given the chance to strut her stuff and prove her self as a runway model for the Tokyo Girls Show and I think she did a fantastic job and I hope to see her walk the runway again.

Mercy Chia: If I were to choose who I could see coming down the runway in a future fashion show, I would have to pick Nichkhun of 2PM. Not only is he incredibly good looking and would look good in any clothes put on him, but he is also tall and well built, so he would make the clothes look good as well. It would also benefit the designers since he is a member of a popular idol group and that would motivate his fans to have more interest in whatever he is modeling. Nichkhun has had previous experience with modeling for magazines as well, so I believe he would do well as a model walking down the runway. The only problem I can see with Nichkhun walking the runway is fans getting distracted from the clothes by his pretty face!

Lisa Nguyen: Despite her young age, I believe f(x)’s Krystal would be a perfect candidate as a runway model. Flaunting a height of 168cm, a naturally slim body and enviable abs, Krystal is more than qualified in the physical attributes of a runway model. The public has evidently shown their envy of Krystal’s physical features. For example, during the SM Town Seoul 2011 press conference, Krystal wore a white mini dress that showed off her beautiful figure and with this look, netizens have commented things like, “Krystal looks like a goddess”, “she is the image of a perfect woman” and “she gives off such a mature physical appearance depite her young age”. Krystal also has what the fans call the “Jung genes” which is basically the ability to give off a cold atmosphere by having expressionless faces and icy glares which means that Krystal’s facial expression during a runway walk will be perfect and expressionless with just a tint of fierce.

Victoria Huynh: When I first saw this question, oddly, the first image that came to mind was 2AM’s Jo Kwon strutting his stuff doing his own khab-walk. Being fairly skinny and standing at around 173 cm, he is a bit short compared to other idols. Although he may not be the super de duper best looking guy on earth, I think he would make a perfect model for the runway. His body is also well-built and nicely toned. He can teach society that we don’t always have to be six feet tall and the most glamorous person on earth to be on a runway, as long as you feel confident. Khab Kwon tends to be always have a fierce, strong, confident look when he’s doing his powerful girl group dances that I believe is perfect for a fashion show. Further more, Jo-Kwon has also been able to pull off many different, unique styles, including mesh, which was seen on an episode of We Got Married where he wore the semi-mesh wedding outfit designed by Ga-In. He can pull off sexy looks, fun looks, casual looks, and most importantly, he’s not afraid to stand out! (You have to admit, he has gotten some pretty weird hairstyles.) Overall, I believe that when you tell Jo Kwon to do a cat walk, I’m sure he’ll do it in a way you’ve never seen before; he’ll own that runway and create a powerful, fun vibe of his own.

Jade Verdeflor: One idol that would be amazing on the runway would be BIGBANG’s G-Dragon. GD is known not only for his musical skill, but also for his unique and innovative style. He is always seen in a fashionable get-up and isn’t afraid to get creative with his clothing choices. Not only is his sense of style amazing, but he possesses such awesome ’swag’ that he would surely look amazing modeling the latest fashions down the runway. GD’s fearless fashion and undeniably cool demeanor make him the perfect model for the runway.
