It gets to a certain point that when you love a hobby or interest so much, you begin to have several wishes and dreams. Dreams and wishes like “I hope to one day meet my favorite idols!” and “I want to go to so-and-so!” and “Oh my gosh! They’re having a concert near where I live! I must go!” and so forth. I have some personal KPOP dreams, you know, like watching SHINee in concert or getting autographs from Kim Hyun Joong or snapping a picture with Kyuhyun. But then, I have grander wishes, wishes that don’t involve myself but rather the KPOP idols themselves.

Wish #1: U-KISS winning #1 on a music show.
I’ve already touched on this when I mentioned in my rant, but I felt that I needed to reiterate and stress this wish. U-KISS does deserve to win #1. I’m not saying that the other idol groups don’t deserve it, it’s just that it’s been three years since U-KISS debuted and they don’t have a #1 to their name. They’ve worked so hard to better and improve themselves with each passing day. I really truly feel that they should have already won #1 with “Neverland”, but unfortunately, with the big-name girl groups making their comebacks, their chance of winning #1 with this song is slowly slipping away and out of their grasp.

Wish #2: DBSK/TVXQ coming together as one and performing as one. Same goes for Super Junior.
So both DBSK and Super Junior share one thing in common. Well, besides being popular, having adoring, loving, even some crazy fans, singing well, coming from the same company. That one thing I’m referring to? Having members leave because of the slave contracts. This has led to JYJ and Han Geng breaking off from their respective groups and going their own paths. It has also led to hurt and angry fans. I’m not for those slave contracts (in fact, I do wish that the idols had fairer contracts for all the hard work they put forth). But I am sad to see that the members left the groups. It just doesn’t feel the same anymore. And I’m not saying for them to go back to SM (though maybe I’m hoping a little that if they do, they’ll get much fairer contracts). I do, however, want to see them standing on the same stage once more - JYJ with DBSK and Han Geng with Super Junior. Is that hoping for too much? (I know the answer.) And if you’re wondering why I didn’t put Jay Park here, well, the reason why he left is unknown. I’m not too certain just what happened exactly.

Wish #3: KPOP visiting Canada.
Ok, so I don’t live in Canada. You might be wondering why, then, I’m writing this one. Well, it has to do with the fact that Canada hardly gets any KPOP groups to come visit them. I mean, Canada is home to some large cities, such as Montreal, Vancouver, and Toronto. Pretty much, I get to see comments like “Why don’t they ever come to Canada?!” and “What about Canada?” when a big-scale KPOP concert is announced. I know, sad. I think a lot of Canadian fans would appreciate KPOP coming over to where they live. After all, every country must be visited, right? But then you have all those countries in Europe that have yet to be visited…I feel like I’m stepping onto a landmine for this one.

Wish #4: Fandoms actually respecting other fandoms.
Ok, this is probably a bit of a stretch and probably just my own whim. It’s like asking for world peace to happen, which won’t happen because you know, few people respect differences. Which is, sad, nonetheless. But you know, I would totally appreciate it if fanwars didn’t exist. But they will, unfortunately. And it’s sad to see all these fanwars because there is just so much hate circulating around. Hey guys, the idol groups don’t bicker with one another. Well, not that we can see. But come on, unity? At least no fanwars between fandoms of groups within the same company! Who cares if fandom A wronged fandom B a few years ago? It’s in the past. Get over it and start respecting one another.

Wish #5: KPOP idols getting more rest.
KPOP idols are so overworked to death. Let me repeat: overworked. to. death. They hardly get any time for rest, their diets are terrible, and their schedules are hectic. When they’re not promoting on stage, they’re involved in numerous activities and endorsement promotions. When they are promoting, they are on numerous variety shows and music programs. Such is the life of an idol. When one promotion cycle ends, there’s a month or two in between before they go on with their next round of promotions. It’s a vicious cycle. Hence, that’s why you have idols that look like they’re about to collapse. It’s a good thing that they don’t really drive to where they need to go - endless number of accidents could occur. But it wouldn’t kill the company to give them some more days off, maybe even weeks, right?
Those are my main wishes. Most of them probably won’t happen, unfortunately, but it’s just wishful thinking, right? Hey KPOP gods, you be listening to me, right? Make my wishes come true!
What are your KPOP wishes?
