Super Junior came back strong with “Mr. Simple” after not being on the KPOP music scene for over a year. Those whacked out, colorful concept photos were not seen in their music video for “Mr. Simple”, so it’s not surprising that we don’t see those simple, camera-taking idols in the MV. Instead, we are treated to some more hotness. But let’s see if “A-CHa” is just as good as “Mr. Simple”, shall we?

The music video. Hiya, boxes of SM. Seems like you’ll be making an appearance every time now, eh? Well, with the exception of “It’s You” and “No Other”. I mean, I don’t mind the simplicity, but really? You get shots of the boys dancing, close-up shots, some weird robot mirrored images a la SNSD’s “Visual Dreams”. And don’t get me wrong - while I don’t mind seeing how hot they can get, I just want to see some more story MVs from Super Junior. Oh, I just realized it: it also reminds me of “Sorry Sorry”. And “BONAMANA”. And Super Junior-M’s “Perfection”. But it’s all dancing. With the guys smirking every now and then.

The dance/choreography. One of the things that I’ve always been impressed about Super Junior is their dancing. I especially love their footwork in their dancing. If I recall correctly, their more recent dances involve quite a bit of footwork, subtle moves. However, they also tend to move their arms around a lot, which causes a lot of attention to be drawn to the arm movements.

The song. I’ll be frank: I still haven’t gotten used to this song. Sure. It’s catchy. A bit addicting. But it’s still part of the SJ Funky. I thought this song would have a different sound to it. In fact, I’m not sure if I will ever really like the song. Sad, but true. I really do wish that their follow-up song would be somewhat like “It’s You” or “No Other”. Guess I won’t see that for a while.

Thoughts. I was disappointed by this music video. It seems like SM Entertainment didn’t put much thought behind this music video. I think their mindset was more along the lines of, “Oh hey, let’s give them yet another boxy background set, dress them up in hot outfits, let them smirk a bit, and we’ll focus on other groups.” Why? Because ELFs will pretty much do anything to support Super Junior. ELFs, did you really stop to think for a second about this MV? It’s going to be their last MV for a while. Pretty much. You would think SM would put a little more thought into this MV. But no. As the last parting gift, I’m given a music video with guys in hot outfits and some weird scenes where I see a close-up of one guy and another guy diminished in the background…creeper alert! Come on, SM. You can do so much better than this. Stop being so cheap. I love Super Junior and all, but no, this MV doesn’t cut it for me. Really.

Overall Rating. 3.8/5

What did you think of the MV?

Not really into the song that much..it’s alright.  =/
They do looking hot...but the MV was okay to me too.

agreed! they don’t have story mvs ever since sorry sorry. guess sm thinks dance mvs are the only way to get attention, cuz sorry sorry was their peak. i demand one AMAZING song and mv before leeteuk leaves for the army cuz that’ll be the day when all kpop fans will be sad ㅠㅠ

You know, funny, because apparently, they gonna be releasing two dance versions of the music video lol

I personally love the music video, but I agree with just about all of the above otherwise.  I was hoping for something along the “It’s You” or “No Other” lines, especially since that had been their trend for the past two albums.  We don’t know that this will be their last music video; maybe they’ll be able to squeeze out another one.  I do agree that SM could have put a little more effort into the music video.  If not a cutesy storyline like No Other, what about a funny adorable one like Super Girl?

I love the song, really I like any thing they put out..but honestly the mv lacks direction :/

ELFs will support Super Junior forever ♥

Seriously, when it started I first thought: wait, Bonamana? But then Eunhyuk with his blond hair appeared..well, then, no, not Bonamana..
I seriously expected them to have at least some story in this MV. Yes, I can stare at SuJu boys forever-ish...but...it was disappointing..
What I also noticed is that boys are sort of getting to look more expensive-with all that sparkly things on them and fur and leather-but, it’s not making them look any better...I mean, they are already hot, sparkles can’t make them look better, put those money on some story!
but, I probably will watch this MV and Mr.Simple many many times because Heenim is in here, and this is his almost last work!
Thanks for the review^^

I totally agree with the plot part, I mean, Suju’s faces are enough to entertain us for more than 3 mins, but still. COME ON, sm, get your creative juices flowing xD

4 would be better!!

agree with you smile but I think the MV is a bit better than Bonamana or Mr. Simple, at least SM add more effects to the MV. I don’t like the song itself

Hmmm… for me, I like the song… at first I was kinda ehhh to it, but it grew on me. The MV though, was plain. The boys look good, but plain as well. And the dancing… it was pretty simple. But all in all, I’m sure they were busy and with Heechul leaving, they needed to hurry up and do this, so maybe that’s why?

at first i thought the song was okay, but it gets addictive just like mr.simple >.< as for the mv, no comment.. i think suju deserve better
i do miss songs like marry you, its you, no other, etc >.<

did everyone catch how they showed the suju couples in the vid?

IT NEEDS TO BE RATED a 5! SUJU IS SO AMAZING!<3

Didn’t we read this awhile ago? Hmm...maybe I’m just too sleepy xD
Thanks for sharing your review on the song! It does looks a lot like Mr Simple’s music video but I still like it anyways. It’s not exactly the same...some things did changed in the music video xD

You’re probably sleepy and thinking of the song review for A-CHa.

I. LOVE. IT! :D It’s very interesting :D

even as an obssessed ELF im also disappointed by this...i was hoping for a MV with a story..i think that will capture viewer’s heart better than just a dance version

yeah i was that interested ;x mr.simple was much better. and to top it all off. no other beats EVERYTHING smile

PLEASE BAN BOWL CUTE or anything that resembles a bowl cut.  Other than that it is OK.  Not a die hard ELF but I do like them.

I agree.  I wasn’t that impressed with the MV or the song.

Thank you for the review, being a Super Junior fan I really like this song, but it’s nowhere as good as It’s you.
