Besides the hot bad guys in dramas, there are also those side characters who are the really nice guys, but they never get the girl, unfortunately! No matter how nice the guy is and how many times he’s there for the girl, comforting her or cheering her up, the girl never seems to fall for him but falls for the big jerks instead. But we would all love it if a guy like that showed up in our lives, right girls?

Vic Zhou as Hua Ze Lei in Meteor Garden
Based off of the Japanese manga, “Hana Yori Dango“, Hua Ze Lei is the Taiwanese drama version of Hanazawa Rui, who is the first love interest of Hua Ze Lei (Tsukushi Makino) because of his kindness, but he only begins to fall in love with her after she is already in love with Dao Ming Si (Tsukasa Doumyouji).

Kingone Wang as Shang Yuan Yi in Devil Beside You
Shang Yuan Yi starts off the drama as a really nice guy that Rainie Yang’s character, Qi Yue, is in love with in the beginning, but then later on, she begins to fall for Mike He’s character, Jiang Meng, who is a tough gangster who likes to pick on her. However, although he doesn’t get Qi Yue in the end, Yuan Yi still gets a happy ending with Qi Yue’s friend, Qing Zi.

Jiro Wang as Jin Yuan Feng in It Started With A Kiss
Jin Yuan Feng is basically Yuan Xiang Qin’s biggest fan. He is completely in love with her even before Jiang Zhi Shu even knew who she was, but Xiang Qin only has eyes for Zhi Shu, and she ignores all the things that Yuan Feng does to try to prove his love to her.

Oguri Shun as Hanazawa Rui in Hana Yori Dango
Since we included the Taiwanese version, we can’t leave out the Japanese version of the Japanese manga! Hanazawa Rui is, once again, the nice guy who begins to fall for Tsukushi Makino after she falls in love with Tsukasa Doumyouji.

Lee Jun Ki as Seo Jung Woo in My Girl
Seo Jung Woo falls for Joo Yoo Rin, who is living a lie in the house of Jung Woo’s friend Gong Chan’s house, and he knows she is in love with that friend, but he can’t find it in himself to give her up, until his feelings are entirely crushed and he finally accepts that she will never go to him. His character was one of the ones that I sympathized with the most because he always looked so pained when he saw how Yoo Rin acted when Gong Chan was around her.

Dean Fujioka as Jia Si Le in Miss No Good
Known for being a fat kid in elementary school, Jia Si Le meets Xiao Hua (Rainie Yang) when they’re older as a handsome, polite, and wealthy man. He is in love with Xiao Hua because of how she took care of him when they were younger, so they begin dating. He is extremely nice and caring and perfect, but again, Xiao Hua falls in love with Tang Men instead, the famous stylist with a bad attitude. It amazes me how she can turn down a guy as perfect as Dean Fujioka!

Yoo Ah In as Moon Jae Shin in Sungkyunkwan Scandal
When Moon Jae Shin (aka Geol Oh) finds out that Kim Yun Shik is a girl, he feels the responsibility to take care of her since she is living in the midst of a bunch of young men, and he also begins to fall for her. Although he is the first to find out, Moon Jae Shin still loses her to Micky Yoochun’s character, Lee Sun Joon. At least Yoo Ah In won the best couple award with Song Joong Ki! Love their bromance <3

Roy Qiu as Han Dong Jie in Easy Fortune Happy Life
Although he appears to be a tough gangster, he takes care of Xie Fu An and her brother and is always there to help her when she most needs help, but for some reason, Xie Fu An still falls for Yan Da Feng. Don’t ask me why the girls always fall for the big jerks instead of the nice guys.

Kim Hyun Joong as Yoon Ji Hoo in Boys Before Flowers
The Korean version of the handsome “prince” of the F4, he is initially in love with his beautiful noona Min Seo Hyun, but eventually falls for the clumsy and cute Geum Jan Di. If he had figured out his own feelings earlier, he could have gotten the girl because Jan Di liked him before she liked Gu Jun Pyo!

Jung Yong Hwa as Kang Shin Woo in You’re Beautiful
In a similar scenario as Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Kang Shin Woo is the first to find out that Go Mi Nam is a girl, but he doesn’t get the girl either. Perhaps there is a curse to being the first to find out the truth of someone’s identity?

Lee Tae Sung as Bong Joon Gu in Mischievous Kiss
The same role as Jiro Wang’s in ISWAK, Bong Joon Gu is head over heels in love with Oh Ha Ni and always thinks of doing only what’s best for her, but she only finds him annoying and falls in love with the cool and quiet Baek Sung Jo instead.

Which of these nice guys was your favorite? (And is it just me or do all of these nice guy scenarios seem similar to one another?)
