A while back, I told you guys some of my all time favorite OST tracks from various dramas. It looks like most of you agree with some of my selections and that’s great to know! There are definitely some more amazing OST tracks out there and I felt just doing one article about it wasn’t enough. So now we have 10 of the best OST Songs, Part 2!
SNSD’s Tiffany’s “I’m Alone” from the “Princess Ja Myung Go” OST
I read through most of the comments and “I’m Alone” that Tiffany sang was a popular “Why wasn’t this on the list?” comment. To be honest, it was because I haven’t listened to it before! So I Youtube-d it and now I understand why you guys asked that. This OST track showcases Tiffany’s powerful vocals and is a stunning piece.
SS501’s “Because I’m Stupid” from the “Boys Over Flowers” OST
“Boys Over Flowers” literally made waves across Asia when it was broadcasted in 2009. The storyline, the characters, and also the music were a big hit among viewers. SS501’s Kim Hyun Joong played the famous “Yoon Ji Hoo Sunbae” and three of his fellow SS501 members participated in the OST. SS501 is already such a talented group that the song was easily made into a memorable track from the series.
The Melody’s “Goodbye” from the “1st Shop of Coffee Prince” OST
This drama may have been broadcasted in 2007, but it’s popularity is still as strong as ever. The lead actors Yoon Eun Hye and Gong Yoo were a hit among fans, leading them to be named the ‘Perfect Couple’. “Goodbye” is a beautiful song that was played in many touching scenes from the series, and what’s better is that half of it is in English!
Ryu’s “My Memory” from the “Winter Sonata” OST
Now this drama is a true classic. It’s almost a decade old but “Winter Sonata” has been one of the major contributors to the Hallyu Wave. It melted the cultural barrier between Japan and Korea was a phenomenal hit in Japan. This drama was so popular that it was aired twice in the same year! Plus, the music is simply stunning. It fits perfectly into all the heart-tugging scenes.
Lee Sun Hee’s “Fox Rain” from the “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” OST
One of the most popular dramas in 2010 was “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho”. Starring Lee Seung Gi and Shin Min Ah, the Hong Sisters bring us another quirky, cute, yet suspenseful drama. It’s a refreshing drama, since the usual love story has a mystical twist. “Fox Rain” perfectly suits the two leads of the drama. Hoi hoi!
Brown Eyed Soul’s Jung Yeop’s “There Was Nothing” from the “49 Days” OST
49 Days. The drama that made me ball my eyes out almost every single freaking episode. The cast made the drama unforgettable and amazing, and the music had a strong impact too. “49 Days” is a drama like no other, the plot twists in this series just want to make you punch the computer screen sometimes. In a good way. It was a smart choice in recruiting Jung Yeop to sing this because he conveys so much emotion when he sings.
Sunny Hill’s “Thump Thump” from the “The Greatest Love” OST
Another one of my favorite dramas that was written by, you guessed it, the Hong Sisters. Every drama that these two write turns into a massive hit. “Thump Thump” is actually a song that the fictional “National Treasure Girls” sing in the drama and is the one thing that gets Dok Go Jin’s heart to move. I’m so glad that Sunny Hill was hired to sing this, they’re so underrated but so talented.
Park Da Yae’s “What Should I Do” from the “You’re Beautiful” OST
Yet another insanely popular drama, “You’re Beautiful”. I mean, A.N. JELL has enough popularity to be a real idol group! This drama has the funny, the serious, and the gloomy. When it gets to the sad scenes, combined with “What Should I DO”, you can’t help but start bawling your eyes out. For the record, I’m still a strong Shin Woo x Mi Nam shipper.
Seo Young Eun’s “Can’t Let Go” from the “49 Days” OST
Yes, I’m putting up another OST song from “49 Days”. I just love this drama so dang much! Seo Young Eun’s track is another emotional, brilliant song. Whenever this song plays, I always think of the ending. Now, for those that haven’t watched it yet, I don’t wait to spoil the ending. But, it was completely unexpected and heartbreaking. I think I’m going to rewatch “49 Days” again…
Fang Ya Xian’s “Meet” from the “It Started With a Kiss” OST
And to finish off the list, we have an OST that’s from a Taiwanese drama! Ever heard of “It Started With a Kiss”? It’s only one of the most popular Taiwanese dramas of all times (in my book). Like any Taiwanese drama, it has so many funny moments you’ll have your sides hurting. (Trivia: Lots of the funny moments in ISWAK are unscripted! The cast just improvised ^^). But there are also a handful of tear-jerking scenes in the series and great music accompanies them.
