This year has seen quite a few debuts and returns of the big name KPOP stars. Hanteo, which monitors album sales in Korea, has presented their 2011 Singer Award charts that detailed the rankings of the top-selling artists.

In first place was none other than Super Junior, who proved to be a formidable force indeed with 322,000 copies sold of their Mr. Simple and Mr. Simple repackaged albums. BIG BANG placed 2nd (217,000), thanks to the group’s mini-albums plus solo albums. Following these two were DBSK (201,000), Kim Hyun Joong (200,000), and JYJ (158,000).

An interesting trend to note that the top five consists of male idols, with four of the Top 5 consisting of idol groups. It’s quite a remarkable feat.

I am expecting SNSD to land on the chart - they have sold at least 100,000 of their albums and by the time they come out with a repackaged album (they should), they should have surpassed one of the artists.
