Gaon has revealed their album chart for the month of October, and SNSD came out on top with comeback album “The Boys” which sold 227,994 copies. This is an impressive feat as SNSD’s album was released on October 19th.
SNSD’s “The Boys” has already surpassed sales of their 2nd album “Oh!“, which recorded a sales total of 197,934, their third mini album “Hoot“, which sold 163,066 copies, and their 2nd album repackage, “Run Devil Run“, with 136,851 copies sold.
A representative of Gaon stated, “The K-pop storm is reaching people internationally, so compared to last year, popular Hallyu idols’ album sales have gone up”, and “It’s speculated that the number of international fans buying albums through Korean websites has gone up.”
Kim Hyun Joong followed behind in second place with second solo mini album “Lucky”, which sold 94,784 copies, and in 3rd was JYJ with “In Heaven”, which moved 81,867 units. In fourth place was FT Island’s remake album “MEMORY IN FTISLAND” with 36,939 copies sold. Super Junior rounded off the top 5 with their 3rd Asia Tour concert album “Super Show 3″, selling 30,125 copies.
Meanwhile, Super Junior’s 5th album “Mr. Simple” is currently the best selling album this year with 329,035 copies sold, followed by TVXQ’s “Keep Your Head Down” with 244,128 copies sold.
