Let’s face it. Some gifts are really common: flowers, chocolates, stuffed animals. Not un-romantic, just…overused you could say. But, nothing says ‘I love you’ more than a homemade iPad! Chinese art student Wei Xin Long actually took the time and effort to make his girlfriend an iPad made from scratch.
He and his girlfriend were getting ready to go their separate ways, not in terms of a break-up but rather for jobs. The two decided to maintain a long distance relationship and as a little parting gift, Wei opted to build her a touchscreen tablet.
Wei went to a second-hand market, purchased components, and began his project. While many parts came from computers and such, he also put together a soda can and a chopstick to make a heat conductor. This handmade iPad took the guy 10 days to make and was finished with the Apple logo and even bedazzled. Even though it may not be good as the real thing, with this version, you can still listen to music, watch movies, video chat, etc.
If you want one, it’ll cost you $126 USD.
