On November 14, 2011 the 17th Korean Musical Awards was held and aired through SBS. Nominated thanks to his participation in this years “Tears of Heaven” musical, JYJ’s Junsu was able to win the the popularity male award!
With the crowed loudly cheering as he hailed the stage, upon receiving his award he gave the following speech:
“Thank you with all my heart for giving me this grateful award again this year. Actually, there has been times when I felt disappointed because I felt like there are times in which I [or we] are being neglected without being evaluated fairly. So just being able to stand here to receive this award is even more meaningful. I’m Happy to be able to receive this precious award. The effort that all of staffs and actors put in every minute by minute for the musical. Sincerely thank you to the audiences for coming to see us, smile and cry along with us.”
BONUS: When Junsu was briefly hosting the show, the female MC asked him to show off his vocals. Shyly, he complied. Incase you missed it in the video above, you can listen to his brief singing of Queen’s “Dancing Queen” here.
I’m glad he won the award again this year! After his amazing performance last year in the “Mozart” musical, it was no surprise that he was able to pull off his character’s role in “Tears of Heaven” just as well.
Since JYJ is done with promotions until next year, this was possibly the last TV appearance of any JYJ member. Not only was Junsu thankful, but said what needed to be said regarding the restricted appearance of JYJ on Korean national TV. Hopefully we can see a change on that in the new year, 2012.
