Enlisted for two months already, Rain has been awarded the special military “Combatant Award” to recognize his outstanding performance during his training period.

This honorable award is only given out under strict circumstances to the soldier who can meet certain physical standards, such as doing 82 sit-ups in two minutes, run 3km in less than two minutes, and score over 90% on shooting drills.

A Korean army official recently spoke to Rain’s impressive performance, “Rain has always been an outstanding soldier, and therefore, sets a good example for everyone else. He participated in the entire training process, and received praise from all the other trainees for his efforts.”

Along with the titular honor, Rain was also given a six-night vacation. Details of where and when this will take place are unknown. Furthermore, Rain will also be able to advance in ranks more quickly.

Only two other celebrities to date have won this award: actor Chun Jung Myung and former H.O.T. leader and current soloist Kangta.

Rain is expected to complete his military duty on July 10, 2013.
