It’s the end of the year again! And even with our beloved KPOP dominating a big chunck of Asian music, CPOP has still managed to secure their musical spots in the markets - much thanks to the talented artists.

CPOP is a quite different music genre that still brings happiness, hope, sadness, and even horror to our lives. The artists don’t necessarily dance as excellent as KPOP bands, nor do they have catchy songs that get stuck in your head the entire day. But rather, simple songs that just brings perhaps a smile to your face, or a tear to your eye.

Because of that, this year, things are a littled changed around. The list is composed of talented artists that are less-known internationally, (though their popularity in the CPOP market is quite notable), to not only give the award for those that deserve it, but also introduce you to some of the greatest music that should be recognized.

Lastly, big thanks to these artists, who have lead us through the beautiful CPOP journey in the year of 2011.

5. Anthony Neely (倪安東)

Our fifth place is snatched away by our talented rookie singer Anthony Neely. In fact, he has not released an album in 2011, but rather, in November of 2010. However, with the amazing songs packed in his first album First Lesson (第一課), I believe that he deserves some attention, therefore fifth place belongs to no other but Anthony.

4. Xian Zi (弦子)

Coming at fourth we have our amazing healing singer Xuan Zi. Her newest album The Rose Against Wind (逆風的薔薇) has just been released in November, and has already been gaining much attention. Her new rock concept has proved that she can indeed sing many different genres of songs, while her other songs of the album still heals those who are heart-broken.

3. Rachel Liang (Liang Wen Yin 梁文音)

Rachel was spotted through a Taiwanese television show “One Million Star” in 2008. And coming at third with her new album Valentine*Friend (情人知己), Rachel has topped various music charts in both Taiwan and China. Her usual sweet voice is shown flawlessly through the hit track of the same title, singing about her love who is both a valentine with passion and love, as well as a friend who she can pour her feelings towards. The song has touched many people’s hearts, and I believe it will be the same for yours.

2. Yoga Lin (林宥嘉)

Bringing his third album Amazing Life (美妙生活), Yoga has landed at a high rank of second. He is known for his dreamy singing skills, as well as his special taste in music that reflects really well in his albums. Every song he sings is carefully picked out so that he knows that his fans will be enjoying the best songs out there. And indeed, the songs are truly great.

And our first place is….*drumrolls please*…F.I.R!

1. F.I.R

F.I.R is one of the most anticipated comebacks in the CPOP market in 2011, and they definitely didn’t disappoint us. After a long wait of two years, the powerful Taiwanese band is back with their unique music and a full-length album titled Chapter VI Atlantis (亞特蘭提斯). Now let’s here the main singer Faye, who has a beautiful but powerful voice, tell you a story of love.

*Honorable Mention: Selina from S.H.E

It’s not usual that we have an honorable mention in our awards, but after everything Selina has been through, she really deserves to be on the list. She didn’t release any albums at all, but that is because she has experienced a shocking accident during her filming of a new drama. The production team didn’t prepare well, which resulted in every part of her body being burned.

She has released a new song Everyone who Loves Me (愛我的每個人), for herself, and for all that loves her.

That wraps up the talent of 2011. Let’s wish all the artists the best success in the following year, shining their talents to the world, and sharing their fantastic music with us!
