Today’s Daily Rant is about how SM Entertainment just doesn’t bother to give us f(x) fans an official name, while the rookie groups that debuted in 2011 already do.
f(x) is SM’s less-known groups ever since their debut, with the giant boy groups DBSK, Super Junior and SHINee in front of them, as well as one of the most successful girls SNSD and BoA. SM just really doesn’t seem to care much about f(x). There hasn’t really been any big concerts like Suju’s Super Show or SNSD’s Into the New World, nor were there super-popular variety shows designed just for them, such as SHINee and SNSD’s Hello Baby. (and I am aware of their f(x) Koala thing, it just wasn’t that popular).
But it’s okay, we get it. It’s harder for a girl group to develop and gain fans and all that. But come on, SM, come on. Look at all the other girl (or boy) groups out there, who all have fandom names and some haven’t even achieve what f(x) has. A Pink debuted this year and BAM there are Pink Pandas, B1A4 is also on the line with their BANAs, or Boyfriend with their Best Friends. Debuting on the same year with f(x), 2NE1 has Blackjacks as well. So what in the world is wrong with f(x) that SM just doesn’t bother to give their fans a name? It’s been what, two years now? And we can’t ven prorudly say that we are an aff(x)tionate, because it just isn’t official, and seems like it won’t be for the next while.
Now, SM, you better not give the new EXO their fan names quite yet (as much as I’m loving the members). Because if you do, man, I’d be seriously pissed. f(x) is amazing, and they really deserve some credits for their hard work. You can ignore our wishes to bring Hangeng and JYJ back because we know it’s nearly impossible (and you’re treating them too badly anyways), but this really isn’t too much to ask, is it?
