IU, the sweetheart of the nation with a voice that could melt anybody away admitted that she has faced brutal words before. On the December 27th episode of SBS TV ‘Strong Heart‘, IU recalled the time she wanted to shed tears after hearing critcism…

IU confessed, “There were two times in life where I wanted to cry.” One of those times was her debut stage, where many male groups were performing. As a consequence, many fan girls were present to cheer on the boys. These fangirls began to chant mean things about IU. Being just sixteen at the time of her debut, IU still had plenty of baby fat and she revealed that the audience called her pig. “Once one person started, all of them began joining her,” IU recalled. Here is IU’s debut performance:

IU stated, “The 3-minute song felt so long and regardless of whether or not I was popular, I thought they would listen to my song, but that wasn’t the case. After that incident, I’m not discouraged even if the audience is silent after my performance. I am strengthened by the quiet sounds of cheers.”

It seems that criticism only makes a person stronger and IU is currently at the top of her game, despite the horrible things said about her by nasty fangirls that day. It’s a shame that jealousy lead the fangirls to say such things about a beautiful star, but all I can say, look where IU is now…
