Hong Seung Sung, Cube Entertainment’s CEO, has shared some thoughts regarding the future of kpop, in a quite positive way.
(and for those of you that don’t know, CUBE Ent. includes artists such as 4minute, B2ST, G.NA, and A Pink)
“K-pop has now become a genre of music that’s relevant all over the world,” he said, ”As long as we develop the current structure we have and continue to supplement it, K-pop can survive another 10-20 years. This is just the beginning for K-POP. How long K-pop lasts depends on how well we establish the current system. K-pop has infinite potential to become explosive.”
“60% of the world’s population is Asian,” he continued, “Knowing that, these Asian stars will soon become world stars. There is a lot of hope for K-pop.”
Well, to be honest, I really really want kpop to last that long, but I really think they’re over-doing it now. The training used to be 5 to 6 years (at least Suju and SNSD are like that), with Japanese debut after stable fans in Korea. But now? I’m not so sure anymore.
Still, KPOP please live long.
