On December 31st, KARA was scheduled to perform at Japan’s ‘NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen‘. This unfortunately forced the girls to miss out on performing live at the ’2011 MBC Gayo Daedaejun‘. Thus to make up for their appearance, the girls undertook a pre-recorded stage, a pre-recorded stage that was estimated to be worth 20 billion won (~$17 million USD).
The pre-recorded stage performance involved the girls performing their hit songs, ‘Jumping‘ and ‘Step‘ on a cruise ship. The cruise ship which the girls had transformed into a stage, was said to be worth $17 million USD. Ultimately, the value of the ship caused its renting value to be at least a few thousand per day.
In relation to the news, a representative from KARA’s agency stated, “Because we felt sorry for being unable to attend the ‘Gayo Daedaejun’, we thought it would be nice to give our all for the video. By chance, we were able to make a deal with Japan’s leading shipping company, and so we shot the video for ‘Jumping’ and ‘Step’ there. This was a busy season where we got to know KARA’s status in Japan.”
