KPOP has been hitting Japan a lot with all of the debuts and whatnot. But for this year, it seems that three KPOP artists are highly anticipated with their Japanese debuts.

Japanese newspaper Yomiuri chose IU, Kim Hyun Joong, and 2AM as the three artists who are highly anticipated and wrote, “Although in 2011 many dance groups appealed, the types of Korean singers to debut in 2012 are of a different kind. There will be a lot to look forward to.”

The newspaper continued, “IU is called the Nation’s little sister in Korea, and the mini album she released at the end of [2011] is of a different feel from previous K-Pop pieces, with mellow songs featuring strings and piano melodies.” Her mini-album, full of Korean hit songs, was released on December 14th and ranked #7 on the Oricon Daily Album Chart without any promotions or Japanese songs.

Next was Kim Hyun Joong, whom the newspaper expressed high expectations for his debut and noted that “the imported version [of Boys over Flowers] was a bit hit in Japan also.” Last but not least was 2AM, whose debut single album “Never Let You” has already reached the top of the charts for pre-orders, indicating that interest in the group is high.
