Recently, a video of American kids giving their honest opinions on KPOP have driven actual KPOP fans insane. Kids React! is a popular Youtube series that has over 1.3 million subscribers. It presents a topic every week to a group of 7 to 13 year olds who then give their views on it. The most recent one happened to be KPOP, and well, let’s just say that some of these kids have some harsh words.

The kids were presented with music videos of SNSD’s ‘Gee‘, Super Junior’s ‘Bonamana‘, and 2NE1’s ‘I Am the Best‘. Their reactions to the music videos were filmed and it looks like the reactions were pretty split. The more favorable comments were ‘They got swag’, ‘The songs are catchy’, things along that line.

On the other hand, many kids expressed opinions that is pretty much to be expected from non KPOP listeners. Some kids started laughing in bewilderment as they watched ‘Bonamana’, commenting how KPOP is like ‘Rebecca Black times 10′, and one even said, “What is wrong with our generation?!’

Yes, I am upset by the comments. But, they’re just kids. Kids that are entitled to their own opinions no matter how terribly horrible those opinions are.

Yeah. No one should listen to these little kids. Music is music no matter what language it is in and If these kids think that anyone who listens kpop is weird well.. WHO ARE THEY TO JUDGE?! gosh. They are exactly the reason why I’m so afraid to tell people what music I listen to.

I feel the same way! When people ask me who my favorite music group is I am afraid to admit that I love Korean groups. People are very judgemental, and I don’t want them to think that I am ‘weird’ because I love korean music.

I hear you! I feel the exaact same way, and though it may seem like I’m just taking your words (which I assure you I am not), when I first watched this, I felt really...letdown, I guess. Obviously these are little kids, who have not gotten used to K-Pop, listening to it for the first time is probably like culture-shock! I have two younger sisters and they both love K-Pop because they’re used to it. They don’t mind the fact that they don’t understand what’s being said, because music is music. Korean music is AWESOME!!! and don’t let anyone tell anyone otherwise. :D

I will kill these little kids. XD

im even younger than some of the kids on the video & i fell in love with k-pop the first time i listened to it!

Wooow..... narrow minded kids xD haha Guess it’s kinda hard to get mad at them because I don’t care about their opinions enough haha (: I am American and I love Kpop!! Proud ELF. And I will watch and listen to their music as much as I want because it is awesome. One reason why I liked Kpop so much is because there wasn’t always songs about sex, drugs and that kinda stuff. I really liked how Kpop did have some standards. Actually I admired them for that. Because Hollywood makes me absolutely sick. Nough said.

they are just plain stupid…

They sound so close-minded. Why do so many people think that if a group or artist is different than they must be copying lady gaga. That’s stupid. I can’t believe even 13 yr. olds sound so stupid, I have a sister that age and she doesn’t sound anything like those kids.

Also they said “they all look the same”
Does that sound racist to anyone else?

i am heartbroken by the comments but its actually really funny cuz 1) its coming from kids and 2) they think american music is better. idk what they think of lady gaga but thinking 2ne1 as lower than her is pretty foolish. unless they think that a provocative and sexual mv is more appropriate than what 2ne1 makes then maybe there really is something wrong with our generation. i’m not saying american music is worse than kpop or vice versa; i support both well even if i listen to kpop more. and some of the kids (hint hint the older ones) were really being offensive with the fact that it was korean music. were they serious? there’s too many countries in the world to stick to your “safety bubble” of american english. i’m sorry but i got a feel of racism right there. tbh, i didn’t like kpop in the beginning either but i didn’t like american pop at all either. there’s always good music in every country - we just look at popular music which is usually not that good. and kpop mvs are always confusing and about love? all mvs are all about love and at least kpop is not all about sex.

HAHAH! I commented on this vid when i saw it and i swear i really did laugh, mainly because i knew! THAT IF netizens where to see this video they would FLIP OUT! yes they are kids and thats what those youtube guys do, they interview kids to get the raw answers that would drive ppl off the wall and make em laugh. But i guess they are biting off more than they can chew here cuz i mean u got more than a million suju fans, more than a million blackjacks and wayyy more fans for snsd right? So dannnggg those harsh comments might be ticking some ppl off. Im an elf, for life! and yes i was offended, but hey theyre just like what 5 kids? Theres a more than a million of us. So BLEHHH We beat you HOW MUCH?? HAHA!

Ok… What’s funny is that this is EXACTLY how I reacted to K-Pop when I first heard it.... 7 years ago? XD Im so old… I think poeple should cut the kids some slack. I mean, maybe this is how JB fans feel… We can be stronger than that.

-_- I know there just kids but....just.. Smh

atleast they said they would listen to kpop. haha im glad they gave it a chance.
well their just kids it shouldnt bother you, if u really love kpop then ull just let it go and keep listening to it. it’s like that smile smile

I personally don’t think that was a good suggestion. Idk maybe it’s just me but I think they shouldn’t have view kpop because they’re OBVIOUSLY going to get alot of hate with this especially their reaction being so negative toward kpop.

skinnyjeans13 - 01/09/12 6:44 pm

I hate the kid in the black shirt with white stripes. But i like the kid wearing the long sleeve red shirt. This is the reason why I don’t show kpop MVs to my friends. they’ll make fun of Kpop artists.

it’s like skinnyjeans13 said. This is why I don’t share anything about kpop to my friends. It’s because I’ll find myself feeling awkward when they make fun of the people I look up to. :( This is why I’m also hesitant toward kpop stars coming here. They’re going to get bashed and I’d hate to see that :/

I saw this video earlier today. It’s… just wow. XD
Sure they’re kids, but c’mon. Really?
Their loss, really.

Just watched the bonus video as I can’t watch the other, and WOW some of them are arrogant! Yeh, I know they are still kids… then at least ACT like kids. Even I feel scared of their attitudes! (the shy ones seem cute though. =w=)
Anyway, a thing I’ve never known before, but just recently found out (fre months ago) is that a lot of people don’t like when Asians bleach their hair. And I don’t quite get it. There’s not copyright on blonde, right? Blonde people can dye their hair black, is that just because Asians are doomed to have dark hair the rest of their lives just because… they already have it and that naturally makes them look fake? (actually I think Korean hair dye seems pretty high duty, LOL)

What, NO! The video has been removed! Gosh, my curiousity is exploding. TAT Must try to Youtube it. :/
“What is wrong with our generation?!” - excuse me, but weren’t they kids? KIDS? ARGH! *calmdowncalmdowncalmdown*

I rather listen to KPOP than listen to sex/drugs related music which infiltrate more than half of the American music concepts nowadays. Your face is the biggest piece of abomination, I have ever seen. but meh, their own opinions - though I dont really like that brunette girl, well two of them…

lols, thast was fun smile

I saw this video. They are just kids, and they might end up liking Kpop eventually.

They said that one of the record labels took it down…

Some of the kids seemed to only care about what happens in America and not about any other culture (Especially William). That’s what annoyed me more than them not really like KPOP. But I think if they gave it a chance, they would probably end up liking it ^^

WTH!
These kids dont know Anything about Kpop music.
Harsh words. Rasicum these days. Just cause they are asian Doesnt mean that they can Judge the music. SO MAD >.<

I think the kids’ opinions stem partly from where in the US they’re from and family backgrounds. K-pop music is foreign to them, and a big part of that is the language. I know some people who does not like listening to music of different languages because they don’t know what the singers are saying. They could be singing some rather vulgar things. I didn’t start listening to K-pop until my teen years. These children could keep an open mind though. Be accepting of differences?

... They are just kids who doesn’t know how awesome kpop is smile
