The Ningin Round Table is a feature in which we pose an Asian entertainment news-related question to Ningin writers and they give us their colorful opinions and thoughts on the matter. The fact that almost every mainstream pop star has their own perfume made us wonder why such isn’t the case for KPOP. We recently asked our writers, “If idols endorsed their own perfumes, which idol would you want to smell like?” Here’s what some of them had to say:

Susie Chong: If I could only go to one KPOP concert this year, I would try and pick a concert that would be a valuable as well as worthwhile use of my only available choice. Therefore, I would request to go to the Music Bank K-Pop Festival. With acts such as SNSD, 2PM, BEAST, SHINee, U-KISS and SISTAR amongst others performing, there would never be a moment of boredom because of the variety available. I would be able to proudly say that I have attended only one concert but have still been able to see a great range of some of my favorite idol groups. It would be awesome to see the wide array of KPOP fan groups all enjoying a concert together in harmony and energetically cheering on the acts. What’s more, the concert is being held in the beautiful city of Paris next month - I would have most of the year to boast about attending the concert!

Jennifer Shu: Despite the fact that it’s not the first Super Junior concert out there, as a hardcore ELF I am, I would pick Super Show 4 as the one and only concert I choose to go to this year. Even though I am super duper familiar with every one of their songs, and can even sing along despite the fact that I don’t know any Korean, Super Junior always prepares something special for each of their concerts in different countries. As a Taiwanese fan, seeing Leeteuk, who isn’t even a Suju-M member, sing a full chinese song is super touching, or watching Kyuhyun, learning Mandarin so hard he can basically communicate with us ELFs makes me super proud. Not only that, but Super Show 4 marks Leeteuk’s last stage before he enlists, and who knows what the industry would be like when he comes back. And to me, this concert is the one thing I can do now to show Leeteuk and also the rest of oppas how much we ELFs love them, and no matter how old they are, how long they’ll be away, or if they’ve decided to go for solo careers, we’ll always be behind their backs with our sapphire blue sea and 13elieving. Super Show 4 isn’t just a concert to me anymore. It’s a goodbye to now, and a promise for the future. Because of that, even though it might be “just another SuJu concert”, to me, I know I need to be there, for not only the great talents and amazing songs, but also the firm and heart warming support for our oppas.

Mylinh: To feed any KPOP fan’s addiction, the ultimate and ideal source of consumption is no other than attending a KPOP concert. Similarly, being a true KPOP follower, if I had to choose any KPOP concert to attend this year, I would have to choose Big Bang’s ‘Big Show 2012′. With V.I.P blood flowing in my veins, I have grown extremely attached to my beautiful five boys. Having spent the previous year in much unneeded adversities where Daesung was firstly involved in a car accident killing a motorcyclist followed by G-Dragon who was caught up in a marijuana controversy, the boys have maintained a low key appearance, delaying and cancelling many upcoming promotions the boys had in stall. Now that it is 2012 and being the boy’s first official live performance since the incidents, I foretell Big Show as being a concert never seen before! A mixture of emotions, awesomeness and most importantly hotness! Big Bang has been known for performing one of the best concerts in the industry and by having this concert marking their comeback, I ensure you that Big Bang won’t disappoint. Thus, for the reasons listed above, I would definitely choose ‘Big Show’ over any of the concerts lined up this year!

Sandy Lee: As KPOP becomes more and more of a known genre around the world, one can only expect that KPOP artists are willing to take the risk and please their international and native fans alike. The best way to do this is by hosting concerts where fans of all ages (unless it’s an age-restricted concert) can attend and mingle with each other due to their common love for the artist. If I could go to any one KPOP concert this year, the one concert I would definitely jump for would be a SMTOWN Live ‘12 concert. There are many reasons why I would choose this concert above all others specifically. First of all, most (if not all) my favourite artists happen to be a part of the label family dubbed SMTOWN. If you’re not familiar with the SMTOWN artists, they include acts such as: TVXQ, BoA, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, SHINee, TRAX, CSJH The Grace, Zhang Li Yin, KANGTA and more. The second reason for choosing to go to the SMTOWN concert is because of the fact that SMTOWN usually has a ton of collaborations between artists from different groups. For example: Seohyun from Girls’ Generation and Kyuhyun from Super Junior have a duet for the song ‘Way Back Into Love’ that they have been performing for the past couple SMTOWN concerts. The third reason is that even if you’re not a huge fan of a certain artist or have not really heard any of their songs, you can see them live too and experience their type of music and singing and maybe even become a fan of them in the process. Lastly, due to the fact that Canada seems quite isolated from the rest of the world when it comes to KPOP concerts, SMTOWN seems like the most likely big concert that will drop by my city and perform for us since they’ve been to Europe for Paris and have been attempting to obtain more US concert locations.

Cara Ribiero: KPOP concerts always prove to be the ultimate experience: amazing music, live performances, flashing lights and just being part of a crowd of cheering fans. If I had to choose only one concert to attend in 2012, it would have to incorporate all of the above statements and Girls’ Generation – 2nd Asia Tour seems to come out on top. Just being able to see the nine gorgeous, talented angels would be incredible, but the fact that they have tons of fun on stage makes the entertainment contagious. The girls always display adorable outfits, which change quicker than I thought possible, and they also each show their individual colors by performing solos. Although the ladies sing and dance to over 40 songs in once concert, they never show their exhaustion and the final song is performed as perfectly as the first. Since it would be the only concert of the year with my attendance, it would be great to see other idols too, and that is usually the case as SNSD is known to have performed with SHINee’s Onew and Key, f(x)’s Amber and many more. So, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to purchase my Girls’ Generation glow stick!

And now you all have the floor - do you agree or disagree with the round table?

If you could only go to one KPOP concert this year, which one would you want to attend the most?
