Today’s Daily Rant focuses on why fans insist their favorite group is better than your favorite group and they get into fanwars just because of that. Everyone, let me spell this out for you: One group is not better than the other.

I’ve seen too many cases where fans take a look at rankings, then wonder where the heck their groups are (ok, I’m a bit guilty of that as well). But one of the things that irks me the most regarding KPOP is the fact that fans will start going on about their group is so much better than your group. And that’s where you get the fanwars started.

Exactly how do you determine if a group is better than another group? By popularity, number of awards they’ve won, music sales? I don’t exactly know. What I do know is that every group is unique. Every group has different members that contribute to the group in many various ways. And all those members combined make up the group that you love so much. Simple as that. So why do I still see comments like, “Big Bang is better than Super Junior”, “SNSD is better than KARA”, “2PM is the best”, “BEAST is better than MBLAQ”? It’s because each group’s fans are trying to prove their favorite group’s popularity and success. Really?

It’s ridiculous that fans will get into fights with other fans just to prove that their group is better. You know, I think really, the only thing that matters is that you love them for who they are. Who cares if they are or are not better than another group? You love the group for the members, their talents, their music, their personalities, right? At least, that’s why I love my groups. (Though I do get a little bitter when they don’t win awards, but hey, at least I don’t go on forums and news sites to vent my frustration. I just sit in my little corner and brood.)

So love them for what they have. And besides, the groups are all friendly with one another! Why are fans breeding animosity when the idols have no problems with one another? (At least, to the naked eye. Who knows what’s going on behind the scenes?! Hee!)
