NU’EST of Pledis made its debut first on March 15th with FACE and is comprised of members JR, Aron, Baekho, Minhyun, and Ren. Their debut song captured the attention of many thanks to their lyrics talking about the troubles and violence that students face at school every day.
Meanwhile, EXO-K of SM debuted with MAMA on April 8th and includes members Suho, Kai, Chanyeol, Sehun, Baekhyun and D.O, with their Chinese counterpart EXO-M (Kris, Luhan, Xiumin, Chen, Tao, Lay) promoting in China. ‘MAMA’ talks about how society nowadays has become more alienated thanks to the virtual world.
Because both songs focus on social problems and not love, the groups are being noticed for not only the messages that they’re sending, but also for their strong vocals and dance moves.
So, the article blatantly forgets about B.A.P, who debuted with Warrior and also doesn’t talk about love. Meanwhile, BtoB also had a fine debut (though Insane was a bit about love). Still, these four rookie groups have made an impact in one way or another, so it will be interesting to see which male group will shine at the end of the year.
But comparisons? Apples to oranges.
