On May 21st, Youtube, Google and MBC celebrated their agreement with the “YouTube presents MBC K-Pop Concert” with SNSD’s Taeyeon and Tiffany as its MCs, but Super Junior’s Leeteuk has recently been taking some heat from netizens for closing the event.
The concert with all of the groups on stage singing “Arirang” together, and afterwards Leeteuk concluded the concert with the words, “We who have different languages and appearances have united as one in music.” Some netizens have been criticizing him for closing out the event, saying that since Taeyeon and Tiffany were the MCs for the event they should have done it.
A publicist for MBC explained, “I believe that the criticism is from some misunderstanding of the situation. The director of the concert asked Leeteuk who has a lot of experience in emceeing to wrap up the big live concert.”
He also stated, “It’s nonsense that he disturbed Tiffany’s emceeing. Leeteuk coming on stage with a microphone shows that it has been planned beforehand.”
Leeteuk (@special1004) also explained on twitter, “I was asked to wrap up the concert with closing lines after singing the ending song ‘Arirang.’ I would like to give my sincere apologies if saying the closing with the producer’s request is a wrongdoing. If not, I would like to politely ask you not to criticize me.”
The concert was broadcast live through Youtube’s MBC K-Pop channel and YouTube Presents channel and saw over 190,000 comments. At the concert, TVXQ, Super Junior, Wonder Girls, SNSD, KARA, MBLAQ, SISTAR, and f(x) performed. The concert will air on MBC at a later date.
Poor Leeteuk. He was just doing what the director asked. It did seem a bit strange though just because Tiffany was saying “thank you” when he started talking and the camera didn’t focus on him until late in his speech (about 3:19:51). If it had, maybe netizens wouldn’t be so confused.

i don’t think it’s that big of a deal who closes the concert but then again netizens are scare when they misunderstand
What’s the matter with netizens? I was watching it live and honestly its a big deal -.- he was asked to do the closing by the organizer so he did and the organizer probably didn’t inform Taeyeon or Tiffany about it. I don’t find how he’s at fault here. Besides I’m pretty sure Tiffany and Taeyeon is way over it already.
poor Teukie ... i don’t think it was his fault ... this really just a misunderstanding ... peeps have to calm down ...
Poor Leeteuk. Hope he doesn’t feel too bad about this

Poor Leeteuk oppa,, if the camera men started to shoot him right after Tiffany saying “Thank You”, I think it wouldn’t make such a problem.. Poor Leeteuk.. </3
He is an experienced host, they should have known, being K-POP fans.. I cannot believe due to the camera men’s slow shooting, they would think Leeteuk is so unexperienced...:/

i was also confused when Tiffany said thank you and Leeteuk kind of cut her off? :( Poor Leeteuk. stop criticizing him. he’s just doing his job </3

A misunderstanding in the part of the viewers, not a big deal.
05/24/12 1:30 am
Wow, why critize him for doing is job?
05/24/12 12:27 am
that is the stupidest reason ever to criticize him. seriously?? netizens get upset by the lamest things!!
05/23/12 11:56 pm
Omg -_-
Well I personally liked that he closed the show alongside Leeteuk so :O
05/23/12 11:46 pm
stupid netizens! they always blow everything out of proportion! like seriously, before you start criticizing people, get you’re facts straight. god, poor leeteuk. you did nothing wrong, and you have no reason to apologize.

-____- Why people such haters? I don’t see whats wrong with him closing the event if he was asked to. Even if he wasn’t I don’t think it really matters…
The concert was so amazing, I lost my voice that night and got in trouble for screaming so loud....♥
05/23/12 10:52 pm
Another blow of haters. -__-
Seriously. Does something like this REALLY need criticism?
05/23/12 10:50 pm
such a stupid controversy. but i love his sarcastic tweet and i don’t think he should even considering to apologize since clearly he was asked to do this and i doubt in anyway he would ever try and interrupt someone and do the closing speech for everyone. he is clearly a great MC and has the most experience so its natural that he would do the closing
05/23/12 10:15 pm
Yeah, probably an error on the cameraman’s account. I don’t see why he would be criticized for that though… I mean, he is one of the oldest, most experienced stars at the event. I see no problem with him closing the concert.

What’s the matter if Leeteuk closed the concert?? Some people then do not realized what’s the true essence of the concert itself.. the closing ceremony is not to be focused about..
