If you were counting on watching Lee Byung Hun reprise his Storm Shadow role this Summer, I’ve got bad news. Paramount has announced that G.I. Joe Retaliation’s release will be delayed to 2013. According to a source close to the LA Times, the delay was due to the decision to convert the film to 3D in hopes of boosting sales, especially in the overseas market. This move was rather surprising for a number of reason, the most surprising of all is that they decided to delay it 5 weeks before the film was due in theaters!
On top of that, millions have already been spent on the marketing of the film including a Superbowl commercial, trailers, posters, a presentation to theater owners at Cinema-Con in April and a website!
Given that so much money has been wasted, this better be a good idea.
What movie are you now going to look forward to now that G.I. Joe Retaliation is no longer releasing this summer?
