Which Korean MC is your Favorite?

Let’s face it: when we watch some of our favorite variety shows, we are either watching it because our bias is a guest, or that’s the reason why we found out about the show in the first place. What we fail to realize is just how bland and uninteresting these shows would be without the colorful personalities of the hosts. Do you have a favorite?

Yoo Jae Suk

He’s known as the Nation MC, due to his unstoppable combination of exciting hosting and hilarious antics. Yoo Jae Suk’s current claim to fame is his position as MC on Running Man, where he never ceases to amaze viewers with his cowardice, bad luck and, of course, his “Grasshopper Dance”.

Kang Ho Dong

Strong Heart really hasn’t been the same without this cheerful man, Kang Ho Dong. He is often made fun of because of his unnaturally large head and Taeyang-inspired hairstyle, but he is also one of the most loved MCs. His contagious laughter, and the foot stomping that goes with it, has put his name in history as one of Korea’s best!

Ji Suk Jin

This sly uncle, who goes by the name of Ji Suk Jin, never fails to cause some sort of reaction to every single one of his viewers, whether it’s due to his old-fashioned nature, greasy pick-up lines or unlucky mishaps. On Running Man, he is known as the “Big Nose Hyung”, which comes in handy quite a lot, but he also causes big laughs and big smiles. How can you not love him?

Boom

He’s funny, he’s crazy, he’s Boom! After leaving a huge impression on viewers through his “Boom Academy” on Strong Heart, he moved on to Invincible Youth 2 where he I showing a more mature, humorous side of himself. With his random dance parties and comedy skits, this MC has some serious experience in the field.

Kim Shin Young

She has a heart as big as her stomach (well, before she decided to lose all that weight!), Kim Shin Young has been recognized as one of the best female MCs ever to grace Korean television. She has been seen on almost every variety show, due to her outrageously funny gags, including her Ahjumma dance and evil laughs. With Shin Young around, an exciting atmosphere is inevitable.

Park Myung Soo

This is definitely one MC that captures viewers’ hearts with his witty, almost rude comebacks. Park Myung Soo’s “Ya ya ya!” and constantly high blood pressure makes this MC unique and loved by all. He can be seen on Happy Together – you won’t miss him with the wig he always wears. He may be all frowns, but once he cracks a smile and laughs that contagious laugh of his, you’ll be hooked.

Shin Bong Sun

You may know her as the “lady that always hits her guests”, but she is mainly called Shin Bong Sun. She always manages to either partner up or sit next to the most attractive male guests on her show, yet despite this, she is loved by male and female viewers alike. Her imitations and dance replicas may not be accurate, but they sure are entertaining!

With so many to choose from, it’s even more difficult choosing your MC bias than an in an idol group. From now on, let’s try and pay more attention to the MCs: they might just surprise you!
