SS501’s Kim Kyu Jong has announced that he will leaving for the military in July.

Apparently, Kyu Jong gave it a lot of thought and came to the conclusion that it was time to enlist. A representative stated, “he could have postponed it a bit longer, but he thought it would be best to go now in order to plan out his later stages of life. After he [is] discharged, he plans to return to the entertainment industry with a lighter heart and mind.”

The representative continued, “Kyu Jong was born in 1987 so he still has some time before he needs to enlist. But he showed his strong will to serve and we can look forward to a lot of his activities after his discharge, so we decided to respect his decision.”

Recently, the SS501 member has pursued a solo and acting career under B2M Entertainment. Since the move he has participated in the musical “Goong”, a web-toon drama, TV Chosun’s “Saving Ahjooma Go Bong Shil”, and released his solo mini-album, “Turn Me On” back in September of 2011.

So sad…I can’t believe I won’t be seeing Kyu Jong for the next two years. Best of luck to him and I’ll certainly be waiting for him to return.

It’s hard adjusting to the fact that I have to see some of the most famous idols I know disappear for two years. :( I guess I can’t be anything else but proud of him for taking this step so soon and out of his own initiative. Kim Kyu Jong fighting!
