Summer is finally here, and for some of us, it means we have a lot of time on our hands. For those who have been busy and have not had a chance to enjoy some great new Korean dramas, summer is the perfect time to catch up on the latest Korean dramas. Below, I’ve listed, in no particular order, five 2012 K-Dramas that should not be missed this summer!
1. Rooftop Prince
Starring Park Yoochun and Han Ji Min, ‘Rooftop Prince’ tells the story of a Crown Prince (Park Yoochun) from the Joseon era who travels to the 21st century with three of his closest friends in order to solve the mystery behind the death of his Crown Princess (Han Ji Min). This romantic comedy drama is a mixture of a historical and modern drama, and will have you bursting out in laughter. Aside from the captivating plot, you also get a ton of eye candy. What more can you ask for in a K-drama?
2. The King 2 Hearts
With actress Ha Ji Won and actor Lee Seung Gi as the two lead characters of ‘The King 2 Hearts’, you really can’t go wrong. The drama revolves around an arrogant Crown Prince of modern day South Korea named Lee Jae Ha (Lee Seung Gi) who gets sent to WOC (World Officers Congress) training camp, a place where South Korean and North Korean soldiers train together. There, he meets and falls for a North Korean special forces agent named Kim Hyang Ah (Ha Ji Won). This drama will keep you on the edge and have you laughing and then crying like a crazy person.
3. The Moon That Embraces The Sun
‘The Moon That Embraces the Sun’ brings us a captivating and heart-warming love story between King Lee Hwon (Kim Soo-Hyun) and a female shaman named Wol (Han Ga-In). Wol is the original Crown Princess and King Lee Hwon’s first love, Heo Yeon Woo, but was killed due to a political conspiracy and is reborn as a shaman who is unaware of her real identity. This drama will grab your interest at the very beginning thanks to the phenomenal child actors, and intriguing storyline keep your eyes glued to the screen.
4. Shut Up Flower Boy Band
‘Shut Up Flower Boy Band’ revolves around a high school band called Eye Candy and tells about their friendship and their passion for music. This drama shows us the strong relationship between friends who often fight but are always there for each other at the end of the day. They are able to overcome obstacles that come their way thanks to their friendship and love for music.
5. Wild Romance
‘Wild Romance’ is about an arrogant and rude baseball player named Park Muyeol (Lee Dong Wook) who is forced to hire a female body guard named Eun Jae (Lee Si Young) to protect his image as a public icon. The two are constantly butting heads since Eun Jae and her family are hardcore fans of baseball team ‘Blue Seagulls’, and Park Muyeol is a player from the opposing team ‘Green Dreamers’. You will find yourself laughing like a crazy person in practically every episode of this drama. Eun Jae is also one of those rare female characters in Korean drama that will not let anyone push her around.
Any of these five dramas will be a great watch for this summer! Are there any other 2012 dramas that you think should be added to this list?
